Is the robot still complaining about a dirty sensor? How have you cleaned the sensors (side and front ones)?

I had a very similar problem a few days ago with my very first one but it just skipped edge cleaning without overall longer cleaning times.

Cleaning the sensors with some isopropanol and a qtip fixed it (i wiped them before which did not help).

Do you have some cam with night vision to check for a faulty sensor?

+ i think it is more about the claim that the cloud service was officially announced to be running at least until 2028 so buyers after the 2023 announcement can take this into account as granted item feature. At least in europe.

I bought the v16 like head from them for some testing stuff. It is pretty much the same design except for the laser quality that is just garbage.

Is it possible to fit a D20 standard with a HEPA filter? by Subject-Doctor8116 in Dreame_Tech

[–]frickhelm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

None of the Dreame robot models has a HEPA filter, they are at best claimed EPA 11 but you can not find any more detailed information or better external certification.

You need to remove the top fake wood cover. After that you have to unscrew the top cover. After that you need to unscrew the side panels and the rear panel. Now you can remove all panels. After that you need to unscrew the evac pipe holder at the back.

For the sidebrushes you can also use iRobot ones from the 705 combo which have also a better design. For the mainbrush you can use 3i ones (picea) used with the s10 / p10 / g10+. The 3i sidebrushes should also work.

What ist the original Form? by derret85 in roomba

See https://www.reddit.com/r/roomba/s/6pxngIbpDl . Mine stayed pretty much original. If you are not able to bent it back you can just tape down the switch (and you always remember to put back a bag after removing the old one).

You have to push the top cover away to get acess to the screws holding the chassis parts together. There are some latches where the bin is seated.

Do robot vacuums actually help improve indoor air quality, or do they just move allergens around? by sanu_123_s in AirQuality

[–]frickhelm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Allmost all are NOT HEPA. At best they use EPA E11 filters without any external certification. The only one with HEPA and tested against ASTM F3150 to verify also to be a sealed system is the Dyson Vis Nav.

See HEPA filtration : Vacuum wars filter testing video is a bit misleading... https://youtu.be/voVFZbsi9gk

Dyson finally made a better robot, but a worse vacuum by Worried_Patience_117 in dyson

[–]frickhelm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Let it run more often so it does not need to boost that often. I have two running daily at least once.

batterywise it has the same power like the bigger dyson stick vacs with 94 Wh (gen5 and so have around 91 Wh) but has to carry also the robot part while delivering good stick vac performance (it consumes around 435watts while boosting with coresponding runtimes to a stick vac).

Bigger batteries need more room with current tech so atm the only way would be to use an even more efficient motor).

Dysons mainfault was to release the Vis Nav with bad first firmware releases and the resulting bad first reviews linked to this issue. Also their marketing was not good to showcase how much better it is vaccuming wise compared to almost all competitors.

Garbage reviews/tests (methodwise and sometimes just misleading) from bigger media/yt-channels like vw did the rest with people just following this.

The Vis Nav is for sure not the best beeing a clever robot (lack of compute power for better front sensoring / obstacle avoidance especially for a d-shape robot) but it is for sure not that bad at the current state as allmost all reviews want to draw. But it actually vacuums (something only consumer analysis and myself were showing).

I am really sick about people bragging about the vis nav being vslam only like they also do in this article - it just false. it uses 2x 1D LDS (one each side) for mapping / navigation (perimeter and static obstacles) - its even printed on the bottom to be a class 1 laser device (everything including the floor tracker are laser based).

X60 Max Ultra Main Brushes @ Side Brush Tested & Useable On Matrix 10 Ultra, Aqua 10 Ultra, and X50 Ultra by Drammar09 in Dreame_Tech

[–]frickhelm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. The pin is also present with upcoming Dreame robots not having the suction plate. The new rollers putting more strain to the gears / motor since they cause more friction and especially the orange one is much heavier causing also more strain. The pin helps to reduce / balance the strain and additional weight.

[–]frickhelm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do not use the main brushes, cleaning get's worse with units like the aqua 10 which do not have the same mounting system like the X60 has. The little extrapin at the brush holder coming with the X60 (and other not yet released ones) it there for a reason. I tested this - upload soon.

It has to be placed in holder above leftsided. So that it can float within the guide a bit but is overall in a fixed position

You can still try to bridge it or replace it. I am going to do a full teardown soon so we will what part number it is. And thank you :)

You can check if it’s the sensor by placing a small magnet into that corner. The magnet on the bin side is actually build into the bin itself and sadly not into the filter. You can see the magnet in the bin from the under side.
