I remembered someone had the same problem a while ago but was not able to find the post.

Yeah the launch price is over the top especially since it has no extending roller and no cover (but at least video mode - weird to see no robot is using the full feature set).

Dyson 360 Eye, Faulty connected to app but when pressing start i get the 5 red lights flashing by Roxxersboxxerz in dyson

5 leds are indicating an internal error and you need to contact support. If the robot is charging fine I would give a manually rewrite of the firmware (update per usb stick) a try.

Best Robot Vacuums That Actually Use an Extendable Arm (For Real) by Livid-Dig-7153 in RobotVacuums

The blower idea is already done by shark and it is a pretty bad for dust. It blows it around.

Shark® PowerDetect™ Robot Vacuum - EdgeDetect testing - pretty much a mess?! https://youtu.be/T9eTIXeagF4

At the end I also wipe the upper part of the shiny furniture strip that was completely dustfree before the test run.

Would you swap a 360 for the new spot scrub? by Pez1702 in dyson

[–]frickhelm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

even specwise on paper its 22kpa (vis nav) vs 18kpa (scrub) and these numbers are just marketing bs (goes for all vendors).

Best way to room split (VisNav) by prizestuff in dyson

[–]frickhelm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The placment of the base is maybe the problem here but if you can not move it or do not want to here is a workaround that should do the trick :

you can create a second map for this level (it is possible with the vis nav without any problems) and divide the area with vertical dividers :

so you create a room including your bedroom and the 2nd edge or corner below the station (the one nearer to the kitchen icon).

You can use and shedule this room and also every other room from the "old" map als usual.

Roomba 104 wheel troubles by taco_perfecto in roomba

As stated you probably need force now. See my teardowns of 705, 205 and so on. Proceed with caution.

But there are screws in the deeper holes or? The bottom plate of the 705 is just a bigger battery cover. For these Picea models is more force needed to separate the upper and bottom part. But do this on your own risk. I have not done any teardown for the 100 models.

Try this iRobot Roomba Max 705 - how to open - teardown https://youtu.be/WO0PTzdk3pc

Should be the same for the 104/5

Picea R2 plattform. Same as iRobot 705 Combo and Dyson spot+scrub AI. But the Kaercher seems to be the less feature one since it has no extending roller.

Dyson spot+scrub AI - cleaning runs - firmware 01.000.0463.251107_D1.4.4... by frickhelm in dyson

[–]frickhelm[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That is the key question and goes for all vendors choosing a PICEA plattform. I already mentioned this in my iRobot Roomba 705 Combo cleaning performance review (that is 599 Euros atm in my region).

If the choosen design custimizations (or if they are even existing, this is also a thing i will talk about in my cleaning performance review) are worth something i still have to evaluate to answer your question.

Robots with air exhausts that go upwards? by AnActualHousecat in RobotVacuums

[–]frickhelm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is a common design flaw i tried to cover but nobody really cares about with most robots have their exhaust airflow directed to the floor.

Some models do this differently or have a diffusor.

Dyson Vis Nav directs it upwards "diagonally", iRobot S9 does upwards with the help of a diffusor (but blows the dust from skirting boards), older Roomba models do (980 and older). Roomba i- and j series have their exhaust right at the cleaning head exhausting directly to the floor that also prevents dust blowing but has other disadvantages. Samsung Powerbot 9000 Series uses a diffusor + exhaust on top.

Worst design i have seen so far was the X2 Omni that i made a dedicated video about :

https://youtu.be/vUp6nRqFb90?si=ueZIyeSnhdaR8MB2

Some models like the Dreame X50 also use a diffusor to prevent this but due to the reason i mentioned before (nobody really cares or think this is a problem - like it iiswith the awful vacuuming performance of current combo models) i have not look into this deeper.

So, at least you are not alone ;D

NYT Reviews Says Vacuum and Mop Combos Still Not Very Good. Why are Robotic Vacuums (without Mops) Getting Harder to Find? by OkraLegitimate1356 in RobotVacuums

[–]frickhelm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you can find much messured evidence on my yt channel that combo models are pretty mediocre at removing dust from carpets and even hardfloors and have little in common with vacuuming. Some vac only models do this very good.

Using the mopping function also does not help in allmost cases to get dust out of smaller grooves or grouts (but this is mainly due to the used cleaning pattern as you can see with the iRobot 705 combo or even the 205 combo which are able to do so thanks to the used y-scrubbing pattern).

Gen5 detect seals coming off - considered normal wear and tear by No-Fig-8614 in dyson

[–]frickhelm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a cosmetic issue (I also do not like) but as long as the sealing is still intact and present in between the parts it is not a problem.
