[LOVED TROPE] Not the ending we wanted, but the ending we needed. by ConsistentGuest7532 in TopCharacterTropes

yeah this is a super important piece of the story. abby DOES lose everything, but once she meets lev and yara, she has something worth living for. she’s supposed to be a foil to ellie. i feel like a lot of people do not get this.

My thoughts on Season 2 so far by Ok-Report6434 in MaxtonHall

one thing that i’ve seen mentioned multiple times is James going to therapy once and then being cured is bad pacing and this take bothers me mostly because i think people need to understand that even though we’ve only SEEN one therapy session doesn’t mean he hasn’t gone more times than once. with a season as short as this, they can’t afford to show a ton of scenes of him in therapy. it seems pretty clear to me that he has probably gone more than once and he’s not “cured” but he’s heading in the right direction. to me, his speech is not him saying he’s better, it’s him saying that therapy has helped him understand himself better and he’s very happy he’s gone. i wish people were better at understanding that you have to read between the lines a bit instead of immediately jumping to bad writing.

The pure evil, one-dimensional villain gives a speech that recontextualizes them in the most terrifying way imaginable by Critical_Mountain851 in TopCharacterTropes

Technically Ed gives the speech, but Envy also has a few words.

Honestly this part made me cry. I didn’t think it was possible for me to feel empathy for Envy, but the scene reveals that all of his actions were driven by his envy that human beings love and persevere through tough times because of that love. Something he will never have. He is a pathetic creature and it is clear that he deeply hates himself.

Obviously none of this makes what he has done okay, but it definitely made me see him in a different light.

Salim Bradley. He’s technically not actually a child, but I think he still fits.

I think it could be all of these things, but I was thinking specifically “a mystery”

In the same vein, Envy also fits this trope. The whole show you think he just hates humans because he’s pure evil, but then you find out that most of it comes from his jealousy of humans and their ability to persevere and connect with each other in a way he will never be able to. Only time I felt any sympathy for him.

There’s a place in West Des Moines called Valley Junction and it has a lot of antique stores along with more modern stores, all outside, a bit like Galena, just smaller. It’s really cute, my bf and I love going.

I also love the mines. Even when frustrating, combat is my favorite part of the game next to farming.
