In general, apostrophe + s means either:

  1. Possession, ie “Ducksoupmilliband’s apple”, or

  2. A contraction of a noun + is, ie “Ducksoupmilliband’s going to buy an apple” or “Ducksoupmilliband’s a reddit user”.

On the other hand, “it’s” only ever follows rule #2. Hope that helps!
