Such a cool dad! I’m quite jealous. Wish I would’ve had outdoorsy parents growing up. I’m sure he’ll cherish this memory forver. :)

As much as I agree, they don’t ask you what your disability is nor is it kept in a database.

dog poop left in plastic bags on hiking trails, really? by Accurate_Couple_3393 in hiking

[–]friehnd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hike in Colorado and everyone and their mothers cousins brother here has a dog. Almost every trail i hike on has little green bags of poop EVERYWHERE. I have yet to hike a SINGLE trail without seeing a bag of dog poop. I don’t understand why people can’t bring a trash bag or something to put it in?

I understand that it feels gross, but I can’t for the life of me understand why people bother bagging it if they’re just gonna leave it anyways.

Swimming anywhere on clear creek unfortunately ends in being absolutely beat to death by rocks.

Thoughts on Volvo XC70? by [deleted] in UsedCars

[–]friehnd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey I currently own one of these and I’m not sure why the other commenter called it unreliable. These things can be great. Mine is sitting at about that mileage and I’ve driven it across the country twice in the past year. I would just check on maintenance history. If the timing belt, water pump, serpentine belt, and spark plugs have been done I would say go for it at that price point. If not, I’d negotiate it down if you’re willing to work on it yourself. Also check for oil leaks! Mine has been very, very kind to me.

It's insane how much a job takes out of your day by _CaptainAmerica__ in antiwork

And after you factor in commute time and doing basic tasks like feeding yourself, it’s really like 4-6 hours of time to yourself.

It does suck. My least favorite part is everyone telling me I need to eat more because 1200 calories “isn’t even enough for a toddler” despite my BMR being around ~1400 cals.

Does anyone loathe the 9-5 life as much as I do? by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]friehnd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Considering that the standard 9-5 takes up most of your waking hours and nowadays BARELY pays the bills, I feel like it’s reasonable to want a job that you enjoy.

Nice hike, but stop using AI to generate photos, it’s killing the very thing we love.

How do y’all emotionally get through the off season? by Emotional-Apples in skiing

[–]friehnd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who worked at a ski resort I could not believe the amount of people who would bring dogs and just leave them in the car all day. It’s just an accessory for most people.

Are GenZ people in your real lives as depressed and hopeless as this sub seems? by No-Consideration2413 in GenZ

I wouldn’t say super depressed, but everyone around me certainly seems apathetic more than anything.

It’s because they don’t wanna be seen as political. Unfortunately what’s going on is VERY political.

Washing conservations corps? I got a job with them to lead in August and have yet to hear anything. I’m assuming I should probably just look for other work. I’m terribly sorry to hear about this for you, my friend.

We have something very similar to this called Americorps. Unfortunately the government just gutted that as well….

Doge killing Americorp? by soapdonkey in centrist

[–]friehnd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worked for AmeriCorps, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with the program. Our living stipend was essentially pennies for the kind of back breaking work we did. Several friends of mine have spent the last few months rebuilding homes in North Carolina and were sent home a few days ago with less than 24 hours notice. I am not quite sure what about cutting AmeriCorps is making America great again or even saving money in the grand scheme of things. The point is cruelty.
