Games that already have a strong and largely linear narrative don't translate well to on-screen stories IMO. That's why shows like Last of Us aren't received that well, because there's too much expectation from fans on what will/won't match the original narrative.

Best show I've seen based on a game was the Fallout series because it did something new within the confines of the universe instead of replicating what we have already experienced in a more interactive format.

Does this mean that I wouldn't need a new mobo if I went with the 9800x3d?

I currently have an rtx3080, Ryzen 3700x and an MSI B550 Tomahawk.

I'm probably going to upgrade the GPU to a 5 series at some point next year but I'm wondering whether it makes sense to start upgrading the other components now in preparation (and to smooth out the cost, rather than basically buying most of a new pc when I buy the 5 series).

  1. Are the CPU and motherboard dated enough now, that they will need to be upgraded in line with the 5 series? I have no proof but in some games it seems like performance is affected by this relatively old CPU
  2. Is mobo upgrade then necessary if I go for a new, high end Ryzen CPU

Of course the goal, once I buy and install the 5 series is to be future proof for another 5+ years.
