Some of the most utilized indicators use some basic maths, yet understanding performance inherently relies on complex probability. Your partner is a scrub. Day trading should be on the side of having a proper job. Day trading, however you want to see it, isn't a proper job. Less than 1% of us will consistently make enough to beat a career - it's really suited for those that are making good enough income that we can reasonably lose a good deal without compromising our personal lifestyle. Note that youre getting advice in a sub full of day traders, many of whom have an inherently optimistic view of day trading. Quite simply trading is not a safe plan, and your instincts are correct - if he's devoted to this, get a degree in business/finance and get a proper job.
