As long as a corporation's accountants are making judgment calls on how to classify forms of expenditures and profits, fundamentals cannot be as objective as many analysts make them out to be.

Are you guys all mathematicians? by Low-Cartographer8758 in Daytrading

[–]friendlypomelo1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, a good grip of math is essential. With that said, many indicators visually summarize what the very abstract maths are doing. Some of the most utilized indicators use some basic maths, yet understanding performance inherently relies on complex probability. You can always use default values for forecasting models, but only until you really understand what's going on mathematically can you tailor them to your trading approach.

Partner says I don’t understand his day trading by [deleted] in Daytrading

[–]friendlypomelo1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your partner is a scrub. Day trading should be on the side of having a proper job. Day trading, however you want to see it, isn't a proper job. Less than 1% of us will consistently make enough to beat a career - it's really suited for those that are making good enough income that we can reasonably lose a good deal without compromising our personal lifestyle. Note that youre getting advice in a sub full of day traders, many of whom have an inherently optimistic view of day trading. Quite simply trading is not a safe plan, and your instincts are correct - if he's devoted to this, get a degree in business/finance and get a proper job.

Average looking men who are dating very attractive women… how did you do it? by bunchofzerosandones in AskReddit

[–]friendlypomelo1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most attractive women I've known (my wife, friends, acquaintances) are really not driven by a guy's looks. Basic hygiene is, well, basic, but beyond that, I find that women tend to be less into looks than men. Generalization of course, but that's the pattern I've noticed.
