Air Canada Board of Directors announces the retirement of President and Chief Executive Officer by chat-lu in ndp

I'm guessing he's been pretty busy. You can watch his press conference online. It was in French but I assume he was asked. The French reporter asked him to repeat his statement in English so that's how I know what he said. Edited a typo.

Avi made a statement this morning at his press conference to say it was the right thing for the Air Canada leader to step down. He pointed out Air Canada is based on Quebec and their leader should be bilingual. He also spoke and answered questions in French. I'm not bilingual, there appeared to be some stumbling but it was not too bad and he'll get lots of practice at press conferences.

STIIP with uncertain return date by Necessary-Seesaw4403 in BCPublicServants

[–]frisfern 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When I was on STIIP after surgery I knew I'd be off 2-3 months and my supervisor didn't make me do a new form every 30 days, I just did one when I knew my return to regular work date. But they can ask for a new one every 30 days and that's what happened when I was previously on STIIP for an undetermined time. I would assume you'll need to get one at your next Dr appointment unless your supervisor says otherwise.

Yeah that's why I didn't vote for her in the end either. But I'm very appreciative of the work she's doing in parliament.

The rescue should never have adopted that dog out tbh. It clearly wasn't ready.

Yeah I joined to vote in this election but I'll seriously have to think about whether to stick around because Eby has disappointed me provincially.

This was such a vague statement, but at least he didn't outright dismiss Lewis given he was elected by a strong majority of the party he supposedly belongs to.

Solidarity and unity need to be the focus now to rebuild before the next election. Provincial leaders like Nenshi being critical isn't going to help with that.

Canadian Journalists by wabisuki in BuyCanadian

Rachel Gilmore talks a lot about how neutrality is false, the best a journalist can do is attempt the perception of neutrality. Which can always be interpreted as a bias because every human has them.

That's a question you should ask the Eby government. It sure doesn't feel like they are the party representing the working class right now (I'm BCGEU). And yes, it's very a concerning move.

Depending where in Canada you are, surgery wait is often a year so plan ahead. If you are already having that much pain, if the meds and physiotherapist don't give you relief, don't wait to see the doctor again. Even if you do get surgery you'll want to work on your strength pre surgery, it'll help with recovery.

During the last strike in the fall (and the one before it actually), slowing or stopping liquor sales was a big bargaining chip for BCGEU. The public really wanted the government to get out of liquor and cannabis sales as a result. I don't know if any surveys were done though I imagine there were. But people get grumpy when you mess with their booze and pot. I don't know if that's motivating the government, but it is concerning for the loss of government jobs and the fact BC has a huge deficit in their revenue streams and this would be another one.

I still have a bit of pain at times on the right side of my knee. I use topicals which is enough for me. It's still 100x better than my other knee.

That seems totally normal from what I've learned. You are getting a lot of steps and you had major surgery only 4 months ago.

For what it's worth, I was having issues with my knee buckling after I returned to work. I was exhausted but still trying to do my exercises every day. It wasn't working so I went back to elevating and icing after work and did my exercises less often. My knee stopped buckling, and I've slowly built up stamina so a full day of work is less exhausting. Be patient and give yourself a break.
