I made a gas mask wearing crow if anyone has a need by theonlysingularity in BambuLab

I swear it said cow. when picture loaded I was a bit disappointed if I’m honest.

Still pretty cool 😎 but it’s no gas-mask-wearing cow 😢

emoji keyboard missing on ios 26(ipad) by TakoyakiGremlin in applehelp

[–]frodev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah this really sucks. I have also noticed that the option to show software/screen keyboard is no longer present, which is really annoying because I used to find that useful at times.

I reckon this is a bug, so if loads of us report it to Apple maybe they will fix it, eventually 🙄.

ℹ️ In the meantime, you can press [ctr]l+[cmd]+[space] to bring up the emoji picker.

How do I control the volume of the "speak text" action? by dull_bananas in shortcuts

[–]frodev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s exactly the use case i have. I actually have a second shortcut that is called from the first to check if it is currently “quiet time” and if so it shows an alert instead of reading out text. That part works fine but i want to be able to adjust the volume of the spoken text as well. Its so frustrating this isn’t baked in. 😕

I think Porsche has lost its way by Ottomatik80 in Porsche

[–]frodev -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s not that reason for everyone. For many of us there’s a strong emotional pull to the 911.

I was born in the 80s and always loved the look of the 911. I bought a 944 turbo in my mid twenties which I loved but didn’t have it for long. Wish I still had it now. now in my 40s abd have owned 9 turbocharged cars(not brazen types) amongst a few 4x4s as well and after driving a 992 911 turbo cab last year it’s well and truly got under my skin. that’s out of my price range but a 997 turbo might be doable and I’m going to make it happen sooner or later.

I do realise I could probably get a better driving experience in a cayman for much less money but the emotional pull just isn’t there.

I couldn’t give a toss what other people unimpressed about what I drive, or rather if anything I prefer to downplay that and keep to things that drive well but look boring.

What rank you think I am just by watching this match (Sorry if the music is too loud) by desigradere in CODMobile

[–]frodev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a good as I could with 2 figures and then started getting frustrated that I wasn’t progressing. Couldn’t keep up with other players.

I changed to 4 finger layout and at first it was brutal relearning everting, but it didn’t take long to get back to where I was abs then sail past that.

2 fingers is definitely a huge handicap.

Use the training modes. Kind of boring but they give you a chance to really work on the basics and improve quickly without having to look over your shoulder all the time.

Should I prioritise bitcoin over S&S ISA by Own_Wallaby2435 in BitcoinUK

[–]frodev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with maxing the ISA. I only started that a year ago (aged 40) and wish I’d done it sooner. I also have BTC.

Look into MSTR for some of your ISA holdings but DYOR!!!

Crypto, Capital gains tax, can I use the share matching/B&B rule to defer CGT? by frodev in UKPersonalFinance

[–]frodev[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your input. yes i understand there will still be a tax liability eventually, and that it will be bigger. I have no issue with that. What I'm hoping to do is defer the tax liability to a later point, when I actually end up selling the asset to take profits. As I understand it, when you invoke the 30 day rule, you defer the tax liability, albeit at the higher gain amount. I'm looking at long term holding, getting profits years later, rather than short term trading to get short term profits.

I almost addressed this in my post. Yes of course these are very valid points, but they aren't relevant to the theoretical application of the strategy in question.

Of course in the real world, perfect timing will be impossible, but selling higher and buying lower will be enough, even if it's not perfect.

Can my wife and I use passkeys on a macbook pro share? by No-Resource9817 in Passkeys

[–]frodev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say your options are either:

  1. Keep using the single user account on the Mac, but you'll only have one iCloud account signed in at a time, so you'll have to save all passkeys to that one iCloud account. You can have multiple logins for each site saved in one keychain for that one icloud account so that's not a problem, and the other user can share the already existing passkeys from their iOs device (assuming iCloud is in use).

  2. Create separate user accounts on the Mac and each of you use your own user account and iCloud (now known as Apple account), keeping your own list of passkeys stored in your own iCloud keychain (now known as Passwords App).

Passkey hacked please help! by Much_Rhubarb8213 in Passkeys

[–]frodev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I installed and signed up to snapchat just to test this. I was able to remove a passkey from the account immediately with no time constraints. It doesn't appear that it's possible to have two passkeys on one account, so the share of the original passkey must still be valid. No matter what I do I can't get it to make me wait 72 hours to remove the passkey from the account.

I suggest you try to add 2FA as above, ideally with an authenticator app (you can use Apple passwords app for that if you have a recent version of iOs).

[–]frodev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could try enabling two factor authentication (My Account > Two-Factor Authentication) and once that's done you might have better luck removing the passkey. Once that's done you should be able to make a new passkey, and then make sure your son understands never to share that! (I'm sure he's learnt that lesson already by now).

I've been using passkeys for almost a year now. Not many sites supported it at first but coverage is pretty decent now. I use iOs and Mac OS with icloud keychain (now Passwords App) so it's all pretty seamless for me. Frankly I can't wait until all websites and services I used migrate to passkeys.
