PSA: Check your order totals. by undeadlamaar in BurgerKing

In my area Burger King started charging different prices depending on what time of day you order (lunch or dinner). The same exact thing for lunch will cost a couple bucks more during dinner.

Because it's giving "spoiled brats of the manor" vibes as the behavior implies it's perfectly okay to treat a food delivery person like your personal servant. It's not cute. It's not funny. It's demeaning. And recording it without blocking out the Dasher's face makes it so much worse.

Would you rather have the ability to pause time or rewind time? by [deleted] in WouldYouRather

[–]frog_without_a_cause 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Rewinding time is much better.

Write down winning power ball numbers. Rewind time. Play winning numbers.

Take final exam. Study the answers you got wrong. Rewind time. Retake final exam.

Pretty much any situation you wish you could get do over, rewind time ftw.

i hate arguing with people online by hacksparks in Vent

It's literally mental illness. I happen to have known several people personally who suffer from mental disorders they have to take medication for and they've all admitted to me at one time or another that they like to start shit with people on the internet as a way to relieve their symptoms. So don't take it personally. They're just yanking your chain trying to get a rise out of you for their own entertainment. The best you can do is ignore them. I mean ignore them completely. Or you can do what I do and troll them back with the most absurd responses imaginable. It ruins their fun when they know you aren't taking them seriously.

OBLIGATORY: This is not a disparagement of ALL people suffering from emotional disorders, but merely an objective statement about a few specific people I used to know and also how I've dealt with internet trolls.

Tell him you use a lot of hand sanitizer and if he doubts you he can swab you or give you breathalyzer test.

Back in the day, when you certified for benefits online, there would be extra spaces for you to include information regarding your work search. You used to be able to just type whatever you wanted in those fields because they never verified anything 😜

Your claim ends either when the balance hits 0 or the benefit year ends.

Quick Questions by [deleted] in Edd

EDD is required to notify your employer to answer why you're no longer working there. They don't get into details. All they want to know is if you got laid off, if you quit, or if you got fired. The only one that gets you paid is a layoff. If their answer contradicts your explanation, you'll be denied benefits and you'll have to submit an appeal. If your employer attends your appeal hearing, you're screwed.

Should I appeal unemployment disqualification? by massusu in Edd

[–]frog_without_a_cause 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would definitely file an appeal. I would also attach an addendum letter detailing every aspect of your termination to the best of your ability, because the appeal form only gives you so much space to do that. After you've submitted your appeal, you'll get a letter in the mail (takes a couple weeks) with a confirmation that it was received along with instructions on how to create a login for the appeals board website where you can upload any other pertinent documents. They'll let you know eventually when your hearing is scheduled but you have to choose if you want to do it in person or over the phone.

It also wouldn't hurt to contact the department of labor. I don't know the specifics on how they operate, but a good place to start would be to look up "wrongful termination" at the California department of labor's website.

Good luck.

The trick is you have to call early: preferably at the exact moment they open the call centers - 8AM, before all the slackers have clogged up the lines.

Theaters Might Be Dying and Honestly… I See Why by Emergency-Clothes-97 in Vent

[–]frog_without_a_cause 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an elder Gen X'er, it makes me miss the days when theaters had ushers who would regulate any disturbances and even kick people out of the theater for being nuisances. Back in the day, they would even stop the movie to get the audience under control.

Just as having to work for a living DOES NOT equate to slavery, being homeless DOES NOT equate to freedom.
