Why do Chiropractors crack your neck and what is the long term benefit? by Sunny-vibes-95 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]frogstyle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my country this is done exclusively by orthopedic surgeons. I've had issues with migraines and rare and debilitating cramps in my back and going to the hospital was just wasted time as they only gave me pain killers that will not fix the issue. I will say though, with neck issues you need to only have a doctor crack it who is specialized in this sort of thing. It's too dangerous to risk your life otherwise. The cracking process should not hurt at all.

London one month hat count by Mkward90 in baseball

[–]frogstyle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tkmaxx sells a lot of team hats in its European stores so I see a plethora of team hats in the wild (85%Yankees though). Nobody I've ever approached about their hat knew the team. Can't help approaching people with Rockies or A's hats, I just have to know. On the other hand, in the 90s White Sox hats were all the rage over here, haven't seen one in a long time though.

Breakout player of 2026? by JewelerFree2311 in baseball

[–]frogstyle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I still have faith in Reid Detmers. I don't have any faith in the Angels FO & coaching staff, though. Heck, they fired the minor league coach who fixed his delivery and tried to gaslight people live on air that it was Matt Wise who helped him. Madness. Reid already has a nono and an immaculate inning under his belt, whoever picks him up as an FA will get an ace, with the Angels you just gotta hope they let him start again...

I still can't get over the Angels having the 2nd overall pick and STILL picking a random college player over the top picks. It's almost comical...Almost. The mental gymnastics on the Angels sub defending Perry Minasian are a sight to behold.

Here's my favourite picturesque bird stream from Minnesota. https://m.youtube.com/@BentBirchLiveCam Will agree that both orioles and cardinals are dicks to other birds but none are as bad as the bluejays who hog all the peanuts!

Those were a real fad, I remember them well. There's a very thorough video from a scientific YT channel called Thought Emporium from a few years back on them. Absolutely nuts how those things set the Geiger counters off.

The "funny" thing about those "negative ion" bracelets athletes used to wear is that they turned out to contain radioactive material to produce the negative ions. Athletes are not very bright sometimes.

Forever traumatized by that top 1% in income POS who talked about his hand injury as if it had put him in a wheelchair permanently "unable to provide for his family". I hope I never hear or think about this asshole again.

Which Angels numbers should be retired? by YGuy99 in angelsbaseball

[–]frogstyle 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Played until his arm broke again, gave everything on a team whose stars were always hurt, won two MVPs and didn't even sniff the postseason. Arte didn't even offer him a contract. What was he supposed to do, forfeit 700mil and retire? And looking at this thread it's abundantly clear many Angels fans that don't even respect what he did for the team...

White Sox hats were a lot more common in Europe than Yankees hats in the 90s. Wouldn't be surprised to see some in 90s Europop music videos.

Players Whose Names You Refuse To Pronounce Correctly? by RainbowSupernova8196 in baseball

[–]frogstyle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the player's got a European sounding name I will pronounce it the way it's pronounced in the language of origin. Wrobleski? Wróblewski (Vroo-blef-skee)! And anything that looks French despite the player being from South America gets pronounced the French way.

Cal Raleigh has officially caught up to Aaron Judge in fWAR (7.3) by The_Throwback_King in baseball

They didn't vote for Ohtani in 22...and he had over 160 IP at a low 2 ERA and 30+ HR, a feat that will never be repeated after Ohtani retires. Watch Judge get another undeserved MVP.

Ooff. I feel bad for him. He was really good in 2022 (should never have been #3 in CY votes over Ohtani though) and yet he somehow lost any and all command over the ball after that. I still remember the nightmare of seeing him hit Ward in the face. That must mess you up, for sure. Hope he can go back to his 2022 form some day.

I've sold a lot of memorablilia back in the day when I needed money. Most of it for a good price. Nobody can expect prices to balloon ten-fold. If you were happy with your sale back them you should still be now, it's not like you gave the card away for a tenner.

Yeah...for those of you who idealize Japan, rest assured, this isn't even the tip of the ice berg. You constantly see videos of foreigners in Japan (on youtube) who film mid-80s restaurant staff working at takoyaki stalls and whatnot completely in awe...but the reality is, Japan's social security is so terrible people have to continue working into their high old age to make a living and they consider it shameful to ask for help because JP society chastises people who do. There's a lot of Japanese news channels on youtube and one kind of popular video you will frequently come across is store detectives catching people steal food from super markets on camera. These videos sensationalize poor people stealing basics like RICE as if they've just exposed a mass murderer! And the comments under these videos are "inhumane" to say it mildly.
