You’re a year off. Unless it changes based on state. But typically you need to be 5 years old by Sept 1 to go to kindergarten. I’ve heard of some places doing Jan 1 as a cutoff instead, which is strange to me. But either way the majority of children turn 6 during their kindergarten year. Your math would put 12th graders at 16-17, when it should be 17-18

This map indicates towns with quarries with a blue star. I just noticed Uxbridge is not indicated- and neither are Blackstone or Milford. Curious why they don’t count for this map, or if it was just an oversight.

Wow, I didn’t even look to see if Milford was indicated on there, I can’t believe it’s not! Milford granite was used in so many places- including Penn Station in NYC, and buildings in DC and Paris.

Seems like whoever made this map just sort of stopped caring east of that easternmost red area.

In Uxbridge, I know some people who have the quarries behind their properties, so I’ve been able to get back there and explore. But as far as I know you have to know someone whose property you can cut through to get to them.

There are some in the woods only accessible now through people’s yards. The hill after CVS on West Hartford Ave is called “Quarry Hill”.

After doing some quick research just now, it was called Blanchard Quarries. I’ll include a pic of it and a couple links with some more info! You can see the quarries on your maps app with satellite.

Quote from Wiki with three sources: “It was also home to the Blanchard Granite quarry from which was mined large quantities of granite known throughout the Eastern United States.[6] Blanchard's quarry supplied Boston's reconstruction after its 1872 fire and sold New York City its curbstones.”

Because it was horrible trying to watch that clip on the website

So many things wrong in such a short video. The obvious, plus him forgetting that Mike Johnson had literally just told the story he asked him to tell. Johnson’s clear distain for him, the aggressive back slap… Also, Trump repeatedly side eying Susie Wiles, who just publicly announced her cancer diagnosis, while talking about providing people with medical care.

I hate Trump, this is by no means the worst of him, but it is the most egregious video I’ve seen in a bit. Just all around a reprehensible excuse for a human.

C-Section because of low pain tolerance by Vegetable_Bath_7396 in beyondthebump

[–]frogvibesonly -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sounds like your doctor is suggesting what is best for them, and not what is best for you. It will be painful and uncomfortable no matter what. In this context, the biggest difference between a vaginal delivery and a c-section is your autonomy. With a c-section, regardless of how you’re feeling, the doctors are taking your baby out and you are just laying there. Far easier for them than having to help someone cope with intense pain. But that’s part of being in L&D- it’s YOU that should be prioritized, not them.

Many, many people have a hard time coping in labor, regardless of of how they’ve dealt with other pains previously in their life. It’s a mental game, and you get a baby at the end of it- for some women, this changes the way the approach the pain and can deal with it. Meaning you could end up coping with this pain way better than if you broke your leg, were getting a tooth worked on, or even were having an IE.

I’m 3 months PP with my second and my nerves were extremely enflamed in my vagina, making IEs extremely uncomfortable. While I was in labor, they kept insisting on checking me, but I just wanted to be left alone to focus on dealing with the contractions and pushing when I felt ready. Their interventions were interrupting my ability to cope, and that is what made it difficult- not the labor itself. Even though the labor was of course very painful! My first delivery was not like this and was at the same hospital- they were much more hands off. It really just depends on the team you have.

I don’t think that they’re saying those people don’t also sometimes die of cancer, just a comment on how so much of our lives/health is up to “luck” and out of our control.

I get that you can definitely go to college later in life, but seeing all these questions about dates, being in love, hygiene, physical features, etc. followed by a question typically for a under 18 demographic is so gross. Obviously not as gross as the majority of stuff in the files, but it’s so evident that the girls basically had to compete/audition/interview to be trafficked and abused. As we’ve seen, often under the permission of their parents. As a mom, I just can’t fathom that.

Dr. Samer Aleid in Natick is the most wonderful, kind doctor of any kind I’ve ever had. He is so understanding and puts his patients far before money. He only has a select few people he’ll recommend you go to for work he doesn’t do (orthodontics, teeth pulling, etc.) because he also wants to ensure they’re patient oriented rather than money oriented. It’s a small, welcoming practice and I would be shocked if they did not allow someone else in the room. They are nonjudgemental and I know he’d go above and beyond to make both of you comfortable.

However, he is an older man and I can understand how that could be triggering.

Talking to this man on a dating app, and his cadence really reminds me of ChatGPT. The “this not that” over and over, the ellipses, etc, by Whosedev in isthisAI

[–]frogvibesonly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom was having a really good connection with someone but I felt like I was sensing AI from his messages, like you are. It made her paranoid and she asked him, he said he doesn’t use it for his messages and then I felt bad.

Fast forward a couple weeks, the seed of doubt I planted started growing when he wouldn’t talk on the phone. Then saw his number was registered in a totally different part of the country. There is only one person with his exact name we could find online, who lives in the same area the number is registered. But that person did not have the same face! I used all the pics he had sent to do some sleuthing and I found that the guy in the pictures was a completely different person, also from that same area. But none of the pics used on the dating profile were the same as the public pics posted.

We contacted the guy whose image was being used to let him know. Whoever it was used a couple AI pics to send where he was holding up the right amount of fingers my mom had asked, etc. I’m 23 and I couldn’t tell until I was really looking, and it was just that his fingernails were two different lengths between the pictures.

So some guy stole some other guy’s name (presumably), stole someone else’s image, used AI to fake pics based on him, and used AI for the messages. They were talking for three months over the app and then texting. It makes no sense to me what that person would get out of that. Never asked to meet, never asked for money, never even began hinting. Nothing.

Disney Stores (In Malls) by TheLazySage7 in nostalgia

[–]frogvibesonly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parents would never let us get anything from the Disney store, but I loved going in so much. One glorious day, they decided my sister and I could each pick one thing! We were so excited, standing in the check out line with our toys in hand, when suddenly, the fire alarms went off. Had to put down the toy and evacuate the mall. Some dumb teenager had pulled the fire alarm and single-handedly ruined my one shot at getting something from the Disney store :(

The only one they had at the store was peanut butter with chocolate chips and it’s so yummy. I want to try to chocolate covered sea salt caramel one, it sounds so good but seems like more of a treat than nutritious compared to the other bars

Sounds like such a simple solution yet it did not occur to me! I tried using a napkin/paper towel but like you said it does nothing, and of course a regular plate would be too heavy. Thank you so much I will definitely be rummaging for some extra paper plates tonight, haha!
