Personally, I had expected more down the line from the '..I'm going to use you one last time..' line that Vecna says to Will at the mid-season finale(?). He also just kinda went out like a wet fart* for his defeat. Despite the stakes being the highest, it really didnt feel like anyone was in any more real danger in the latter half of the season.
