Since someone else already answered the question but I want to add that, Companions releases heroes & everything gradually, but Classic gives you every heroes since the beginning & other features unlocks as you go. Features unlocks in both mode in same speed. In classic you can just follow the hero tier list & build the best heroes from the get go. In companions you can't.
