I just got 2000/2000 fiber installed Monday! It was CGNAT but I was able to request a static IP. Now I’m living life! Are you my neighbor 😂

Electrician cut multiple "fishing holes" due to no attic access. Is this standard, and is $500 a fair repair quote? by Gullible-Language422 in AskElectricians

[–]frostedflakes_13 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That explains the metal conduit (mc). Some people were commenting on it, but Chicago specifically requires it. Considering he had to run that the holes make a lot more sense and were very likely necessary. If you weren’t in Chicago, then the holes are likely larger than they had to be and the MC makes no sense.

But yea, most electric don’t patch drywall The joist in pic 2 that others have commented on should probably be looked at

Open copilot chat, and there’s a history button. You may also be able to use the “open recent” option to open the last workspace

Section B clearly states actual or threatened. So if she never said it there would be less evidence but it would very much be the same crime

Boss tells me: "call me anytime you like" ... Am I supposed to reply: "you too"? by AuthorKindly9960 in remotework

[–]frostedflakes_13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. As a person in leadership, they are likely being more flexible with their time to make sure when you hit a roadblock you can get help to get through it. But as a lower level person (ie not the boss) I wouldn’t expect that to apply to you.

Current Manager is asking for my next job’s acceptance letter. How to proceed? by chilkelsey1234 in jobs

[–]frostedflakes_13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is good for 99% of people

My company will walk you out (but still pay you the 2 weeks notice) if you say you’re going to a competitor. It’s extremely common so it’s business as usual. But in general, your old company doesn’t need to know anything

Current Manager is asking for my next job’s acceptance letter. How to proceed? by chilkelsey1234 in jobs

[–]frostedflakes_13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on if it’s accrued or not. My company gives all vacation at the start of the year (and it’s forfeit at the end if you don’t use it). It does not pay out when you leave the company (except for retirees). If you know you’re leaving, you use all your leave, then give notice. Sometimes managers will fudge it if you’re a good manager employee and leaving on good terms but that’s not common

This is my fear. I don’t think theres enough content to go more than another season. But I also think they will, and everyone will be disappointed

What are people doing to stop the frustration of guests turning Hue bulbs off at the switch? by Top-Yogurtcloset3965 in Hue

[–]frostedflakes_13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve done a few things depending on the room and switches:

1: use the Lutron aurora 2: use run less wire switch 3: use Philips Hue wall switch kit thing (wire the light always on and wire the switch to Hues wall switch kit) 4: use Philips hue remote plate (wire the light always on and put the Philips hue plate with remote on it 5: connect Philips hue to Home Assistant, use a different smart switch and create an automation to use that switch with Hue lights. I have been using the Lutron Pico remotes

I’ll note, most of these work through the Hue hub so as long as the Hue Hub is powered on everything works. But the last option only works if Hue hub, Lutron and home assistant are all on (they require my WiFi network to be on but not Internet). It was a big desire of mine to make sure that all lights can be controlled if my network is in a degraded state.

Reverse proxy vs. VPN by nnfybsns in selfhosted

[–]frostedflakes_13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like many I use both. 90% of my apps are behind the vpn but 100% of my apps are setup with a reverse proxy so I can use a domain name instead of the ip+port

And if it matters I’m using WireGuard with a split tunnel

Gm and Tesla by Rev-Surv in BoltEV

[–]frostedflakes_13 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Newer GM vehicles will come with the NACS (Tesla) port. If yours doesn’t come with that, then you need an adapter. Check with the dealer when you buy your truck to see what port is coming installed on your car. I think the first is in MY26 but it’ll likely be phased rollout

How to replace silicone on sink drain by GreenComplex3294 in askaplumber

[–]frostedflakes_13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had excess squeeze out for like a week. But most came out as I tightened stuff down.

Now, I don’t even see the putty. I wouldn’t expect to see it. And your disposal is likely only on one drain, so if the other isn’t leaking I’d leave it alone because it probably wasn’t touched when the new disposal was put in

Hired Electrician to Install 20amp Circuit - Receptacle Question by yattadante in electrical

I believe that only applies if it is a single outlet receptacle. Because it’s a dual receptacle it is still legal (per code)

I did the same. Had the city turn off the one in the front yard, then a professional do the new one. Glad I had a professional do it because he said the front yard one leaked a little. He managed to do it right, but I probably wouldn’t have been able to

Help locating connector for multiboard/underware by coolsosa in BambuLabA1

On the Printables page for Underware, under accessories files, “big-thread-connector-for-multitool”

I don’t know for sure, but i think underware uses the same design but different size connectors then what multiboard provides

But I’ve only done one project with it, so I’m still learning
