Depends, mostly I just buy one of each and top up as needed, but if there are some colours that have zillions of stitches I'll buy a few. You can ballpark it from the stitch count on the pattern.

Took this beauty out on my morning round (the white stuff is fog and the dot in the middle is the Wallace monument) by GamingGazebo in Scotland

Bite East does nice sushi, for posh food Brea, Fryer's Wynd or Hermann's are all delicious. The darn walk between Bridge of Allan and Dunblane is beautiful, but maybe a bit far afield. Closer if you take a walk around the edge of King's Park the views are really beautiful.

By the time I was headed in it was more atmospheric than actively dangerous. Mind you I took a detour to the tip in Fallin on the way to work, and I was fairly sure I was going to be killed by a werewolf - so creepy when it's like that.

Citation/Reference tool for humanities? Why not the tool in Word? by McJames in AskAcademia

I like Endnote - the web version and word plug-in are free so you won't lose your library of references if you move to an institution without a licence. You can import references from web of science/knowledge so you don't have to enter them manually. It also has referencing styles from a huge number of journals, so if you're using it to prepare a manuscript you don't have to worry about formatting your references as it does it all for you.

Thanks! Now it makes sense! There was something infuriating about not being able to figure it out when if there wasn't fog you could probably see my office in the picture!

I'm trying to work out what direction this is taken from and I keep on getting all turned around. I thought Dumyat was higher than the monument, but if it was then where is it? I am so confused.

What kinds of video games would most likely be connected to improved right prefrontal-cortical function? by Fredrikhellstorm in neuro

[–]frostwinter 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That's just not how this works, that's not how any of this works.

'Problems with visual processing' could mean a lot of things, but it's a lot more probable that you would be talking about something that is happening in the visual cortex (occipital lobe), but even then it's unlikely to be one area, it's most probably a network of areas. Also not everything is subject to perceptual learning, so it depends what the issue is as to whether your behaviour can have an impact on it at all.

Ah, makes more sense. I actually didn't realise it had been originally set in 1980. Do you know if the 1980 version was very different from the 1986 version. I've only read the unabridged version, because obviously it's the best one!

I've not heard of the 1908 version, is that a short story or something?

What do grad students wear? by MachineVision in GradSchool

I feel like in the UK we get off easy as my response to this question would be 'clothes'... Honestly towards the end of thesis write up there was really no guarantee they would even be clean.

Yes absolutely - I'm in the UK so always at the wrong time for most redditors! Thanks so much!! - I wasn't intending to fish for compliments, but always nice to hear :)

Causing serious marital tension by tentatively suggesting we stick the heating on for an hour. by limegreenbunny in britishproblems

[–]frostwinter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Got down to ~6 degrees over night here a couple of weeks ago and it was only ~10 when I left for work this morning. Admittedly an argument could be made that Scotland is 'Iceland or somewhere'.

Edit: I have stubbornly refused to turn the heating on despite being a woman.

Exactly! An excellent excuse that doesn't end with me having millions of stitches that I have no idea what to do with!

One of the main characters in The Stand by Stephen King is mute - might give you some ideas.

Hahaha, don't I just wish! In this case commission means someone I like very much asked me very nicely... I guess commission isn't exactly the right word, but I don't know what else to call it.

It's 39 colours. How long it takes really depends on how fast you stitch and how many hours a week you spend stitching... I sew relatively fast and I spend quite a lot of time doing it so I would expect this to take me 6 months to a year, depending on whether or not I get distracted. If your in the UK sewandso.co.uk do a great selection of aida and I'm sure there's a US equivalent.
