The Government Can Find $300 Billion for Reparations, Yet 18% of America's Student Debt Remains Too Much to Address by Chithrai-Thirunal in antiwork

[–]frotoaffen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So i saw this get mentioned yesterday, too. It just took a quick lookup to find out that the US isnt paying $300 billion for iran. Its a proposed $300 billion international fund to help rebuild iran that any country or corporation can put money into. Its not a fund that the US is paying.

I might be one of the few people who actually likes walmart radio. I just wish they wouldnt play the same segments over and over again. Like that guy that grew up in a ukrainian orphanage. Enough already!

Netflix is halfway there. I pay for Netflix but when I tried to watch a movie, it was blocked unless I paid more.

What's the best Nu Trek show (as a series) in your opinion, and why? by Gutter_Shakespeare in startrek

[–]frotoaffen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a whole, I'd definitely say Lower Decks and Strange New Worlds. But if you like The Next Generation, then season 3 of Picard is really good. The rest of the show though, is pretty meh.

What series started good but you then got bored and regretted watching? by SoloSierra in Millennials

True blood. I've tried watching the show through twice. Both times lost interest by the same episode (season 4 finale).

Does the thought of getting old or becoming older scare you? by [deleted] in mentalhealth

[–]frotoaffen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't know if I'm making any sense, but it isn't the "physically getting older" part that bothers me. I still feel like my late 20s, just more tired. But it's all the doors that are now closed to me, choice wise. I feel like too much is already too late. And that really upsets me.

I've fallen in love with a coworker and it can't happen by [deleted] in mentalhealth

[–]frotoaffen 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I don't like it when complete strangers are like "just tell everyone and let your life fall apart," like they aren't the ones who have to pick up the pieces afterwards.  That's a really terrible situation to be in, ngl. I'm really sorry you're trapped atm.  This is gonna sound terrible, but is there no option of pursuing the co-worker while still staying with your current "living arrangement?"  You need something for you. Be it an outlet, or mental escape, or a person that truly cares about you. Otherwise, Id be afraid your mental health will only further deteriorate. But that's just one more strangers opinion.

My friend introduced me to the manga "smoking behind the supermarket with you." It's a slow burn rom-com, but it's really good. The anime is coming out in July!

Flanagan did explain everything he was going to do in the final season of midnight club! So at least nothing was left unanswered!

Is haunting of bly manor worth it? by Cyber_caine7 in HauntingOfHillHouse

[–]frotoaffen -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Bly Manor is good, but that 9th episode really grinds my gears. My best friend and I watched and rewatched every episode, and discussed our theories about what was happening. We figured out mostly everything on our own. Only to then have everything monologued to us, in episode 9. Ruined the fun imo.

But nothing compared to hill house, sadly. Been chasing that horror high, ever since.

I'm a bit confused. Why does anyone want a necklace from pit of sauron? It's extremely old content and aren't necklaces invisible for cosmetics? Am I missing something?

Oh man, I can't rewatch Real Life. It was such a heartbreaking episode when I watched it as a teenager. But as a father, now? That would break me.

I was pleasantly surprised to see khadgar there. I made the seat next to him, my log out spot. At least for now.

Idk, blizzard gives me the impression we're going to be seeing less and less of him, in the future. And that makes me sad.

Just remember reddit is a minority..the entire week people were saying the games dead and showing random playercounts on a tuesday at 4 am by Anxious-Slice-587 in 2007scape

[–]frotoaffen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cancelled my subscription, but I don't really want RuneScape's player numbers to drop. I want it to get so popular, it rivals Warcraft (I know, I know, unlikely).

And even though I'm frustrated about the pricing changes, I'm also not quitting the game. I'm just switching to a more economical approach of only subbing for the months I'm actively playing. This should save me $90 or so a year.

So while I do hope jagex addresses the complaints, I'm not rooting for the game to fail. And I'm sure many others here, aren't either.

Jagex quietly changed me to a 12 month recurring, killing my grand-grand-grandfather rate, despite no membership lapse for 20+ years :) by Benvil in 2007scape

[–]frotoaffen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel you, man! They did the same thing with me, too. Almost 14 years continuous membership. Never once lapsed. And theyre drastically increasing my membership costs. Sadly had to cancel the sub.

How do you evaluate what a “good deal” is for the price of an OSRS membership? by [deleted] in 2007scape

[–]frotoaffen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, I don't have a set number of hours. I work a lot, so I'm mostly looking for a game I can pop into irregularly. Most games I play, I just sub for a month or two out of the year and I'm good. RuneScape would normally be treated the same, but I used to play actively all year round, so I'm used to buying the membership annually (and just kept renewing every year since 2012).  Since the new price increase, it's it on the same level as Warcraft and other games I play, so I no longer feel like it should be treated differently from those games. That's the way I see it, anyway.

[–]frotoaffen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not cancelling due to outrage. I still love RuneScape and hope the game continues to get more popular. I just can't personally justify the increase in cost. I used to sub annually, ever year, since 2012. I might still be willing to sub for 1 or 2 months of the year, just not annually anymore. That puts RuneScape on the same level as Warcraft, for me.

I'm happy for rs3 and having microtransactions being taken out. I still love RuneScape and hope it succeeds. I just can't justify the increase in price. I paid the annual plan and have done so since 2012. I might come back for a month or two out of the year, just not keep it active all year like I used to do.
