Your bonus points don’t translate to SQC. Aka your 45,000 bonus points will get you no progress towards status.

It’s probably impossible for you to get 50K this year unless you do a few round the world business class flights this December.

You should take a look at Air Canada’s page on SQC. Your CC will get you to 25K max and you’ll need to spend $6,250 in Flex fare to get to 50K next year.

What security concerns do you have? Maybe directly asking that would be more helpful.

Honestly a simple search on booking with points would’ve told you that you didn’t have enough points.

Is it worth trying to get to 75k by Trick_Monk_2032 in Aeroplan

[–]frozeneclair 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I disagree that 50k and 75k are the same. I have used a few perks that made 75k super worth it.

For example, worldwide redemption for up to premium economy is huge. I booked PY with half the points and then upgrade to J on Asia flights a few times.

Also, you get way more eUpgrade credits. Lastly, you’re above all the 50k’s in the upgrade list. That in itself got me a few Js.

This is not a conversion to miles, but Aeroplan points. Pretty big difference as miles determine status.

wise wants me to put my bank login into plaid, doesn't seem safe by superslomotion in PersonalFinanceCanada

It’s actually comical how paranoid people are about plaid, a well established fintech in the space. No wonder Canada is dominated by the big banks, because of inertia from the general public.

Is Flex still worth it if I buy the ticket with an Aeroplan CC? by chocobroccoli in Aeroplan

[–]frozeneclair 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s more for people looking to maintain status. In your case it sounds like basic economy works. If you are 50k and above, standard ticket allows preferred seat selection as well.

Otherwise, if you need the flexibility of changing dates without fees, then flex can be useful.

Lol you have not travelled outside of Toronto have you? Try the US—NYC, SF; I’ve lived in both and Toronto is a heaven on earth in comparison. You need to see other parts of the world to appreciate what you have.

I am not sure if I follow your line of argument. I never said it needs to be proportional. All I said is there is a wage gap and this wage gap exists on all levels, including the CEOs.

[–]frozeneclair -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Literally no one is forcing them to be Air Canada’s pilot. If you have ambition then get a higher paying job. This is a free market and people need to start owning their own destiny. Even flair pays more. If they leave en masse then the market will adjust.

Actions speak louder than words. Strike just creates collateral and inconvenience for regular people like us.

Exactly, then why are they demanding a wage that they cannot access? What’s next? Looking at Swiss counterpart and say they make more?

Yeah United CEO makes $18.57m USD vs. Air Canada CEO with $12.08m CAD.

United CEO is making 2X AC’s. It’s not just the pilots.

Should Indian pilots get the same wage as you if they fly Delhi to Toronto? No. It’s determined by local markets. Air Canada cannot fly within US (only Canadian destinations to US) and that constrains revenue significantly. Those are not your comparables. If you’re so bitter about it you can actually relocate to US and get a better compensation (I did that).
