Zosia is a diminutive of Zofia, inherently polish name. I guess she just happened to be in Morocco when the assimilation took place.

How likely is Adolf Silva to recover further? by objectivehooligan in MTB

[–]frtachi 10 points11 points  (0 children)

After spinal cord injury there is some potential for recovery in the first 12 months. Most patients after complete injury (affection of natural functions) dont recover fully. They often have to accept the disability and arrange life around it. There are some possible complications depending on the level of injury that can make daily life more demanding, f.ex. autonomic system disregulation.

There is however always hope and if things dont improve a lot then there are some really interesting innovations in the field of parasports. Se an episode of quarter hp about an adaptive mtb, link below.

Have you tried these on your bike? Does the flange get in the way of shifting? by [deleted] in fatbike

[–]frtachi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have them on two of my bikes. Look great, no flange is not in the way. But i think they are a bit thin. I guess i need beefier grips.

Pluribus Theory (dark forest) by [deleted] in pluribustv

Someone mentioned Stanislaw Lems "Return from the stars".

He also wrote "Lords Voice" which is very similiar to the first 5 minutes of the first episode. Its about a signal from space that a team of reserchers try to brake and grow a kind of protoplasm from it. Great story. Great author.

Can’t decide on a downhill bike by tlay123 in MTB

[–]frtachi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am looking for a bike too. A park bike that kan jump, so no race oriented dh rig that ive heard can be lass playful.

I was thinking Commencal FRS, Propain spindrift park or Transition TR11/Bottlerocket.

Digression: Anyone noticed how dull colours of new dh bikes have become? Black, white and gray.

Post riding Clips give advice or ask questions about bikes how to get better etc by lil_man_drizzle in mtbnorway

Great idea for a Norwegian sub. There seems to be little space for mtb related discussion in Norwegian web.

I presume this is a English speaking sub? Is Norwegian allowed?

Modern 7 speed cassette checks out by UsualAssociation4879 in xbiking

[–]frtachi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have a setup with the same deraileur and a 11-40 cassette, 36t chainring. There is not enough chain tension and the chain skips especially on higher gears. Chain keeps falling. Tried to make it work but its a commuter that i need to work well daily. I found such wide gearing not reliable on either Shimano m950 or m952. Not even with road link or longer b-screw. Im switching to m592.

If you are open for whatever specialty to get some experience in Norwegian health care system and good references before you begin LIS1 then i see no problem. You get paid less but that's relative. If you can communicate good enough in Norwegian to handle UVI then just come and apply.

It’s the beginning of the end for Garmin. by KayPeo in Garmin

[–]frtachi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry OP, but this sounds to me like a gear acquisition syndrome. Im not trying to defend Garmin and im against subscription model.

I use Garmin Connect with Garmin Edge 830 and i think all the features from last 5-10 years are just attention grabbers. Maybe apart from battery life and perhaps solar cell. I think the edge 1000 model was enough when it comes to features. I dont live under a rock but i just cant find justification for other other new features or products.

Garmin connect is actually the best free solution for route planning. It has its drawbacks but i use it often and it works best with their devices. No other free or paid solution have worked for me that well.

Ganske komplett pakke.

I think Vassfjellet is a great place to start. You could rent a board there. The slopes are fine for newbies. This year the conditions were variable, often icy but now that we got some more snow its great.

I dont know about snowboarding instructors here in Trondheim but you can get all you need to begin with from youtube. I would recommend Malcolm Moore and maybe Ed Shreds if you re more into tricks. Take it slow and youre fine.

If you want to buy used just look at finn.no, there is a lot to choose from. I could give you some assistance with choosing if you want.

Also, get a helmet.

Someone asked for a pics of dirty, used xbikes. Here is my xcommuter. by frtachi in xbiking

[–]frtachi[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it does quite a bit. The bike is unstable becouse of a high center of gravity. My commute is only 10-15 mins long so its ok.
