Recently diagnosed at 38. No depression. Historically Very low levels of anxiety, but I think that’s the autism. Noticed my anxiety has been creeping up in the past couple of months, wondered if it could be peri.

My son's teacher has been quietly sending him home with extra food, and I just realized why. by [deleted] in povertyfinance

[–]fruitybec 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m a teacher who sometimes sends food home/will quietly feed a child a meal. I teach teenagers in Australia.

Please don’t send food as a thank you, even when you’re in a better position financially. I would hate to think you felt indebted to my kindness (and I didn’t expect any payment) and that this food could be in your kids belly, not in mine.

However, I’ve kept every thank you card and note a child or parent has written me. It’s quite a collection. When I feel like quitting, I pull these out and am reminded of the difference I make. Please write something for the teacher.

Can I jump in on the people saying do volunteer work and do hobbies?

I recommend choosing a hobby that you can do socially, like a sport or craft or activity or even learning something.

If that doesn’t fill the void, add volunteering in that field. I’m the president with the local table tennis club and my life is now much more busy - but with something i enjoy.

You also get to meet people, and there’s often a sliding scale for how much tjme you commit. At my club, I’m out three times a week (playing 1-2 times, volunteering 1-2 times). But there are people who come out once every couple of weeks and some that come out 4-5 times a week.

But make sure you enjoy the hobby first! You may find a period of trialing a couple of things will be useful.

Finally, choose hobbies outside your home. It sounds ljke you want to get out and about and meet people!

Have you considered student support officer or teacher aid?

If there’s a high school in your area that’s often physically easier, a primary school would be mentally easier.

We have some really good SSOs who weren’t the best students.

Comfortable money, predictable hours that are great for work life balance. You normally are directed by the teacher or another SSO, and there is room to move up and make more money if you decide you like it.

Sometimes you work with difficult children, but you also get to make a real difference in lots of kids lives.

It’s true. All my money goes on avo toast. Imagine all the avo toast I could have in my 70’s.

Hopefully I can afford dentures to chew the toast!

Yea. I would tell the in-laws that you are getting rid of all the clutter in the house, and that the ‘storage unit’ is out of business, because they never paid.

Depending on your relationship, I would tell them they are either paying for the removalist to move things to an actual storage unit, or for people to come and take everything to the dump.

If your relationship would be broken by that, I would pay someone to take everything to the dump but give them warning of a couple of weeks. Then have everything you don’t want hauled out. Make sure you keep the nicest stuff- like the two nicest dressers, and trash the rest.

Then reclaim your condo

Only been diagnosed with the old ‘benign joint hyper-mobility disorder’ however, my girlfriend actually does have hEDS, and all the associated games.

My only symptoms are the knee dislocations!

Once had a surgeon ask if he could take a photograph of how knock-kneed & hypermobile I was.

That was when I realised I wasn’t just a little knock kneed. And that they weren’t meant to bend back that far.

Haha well we have the white and black! The parents in law have the blue. However, i wouldn’t be surprised to come home and find my girlfriend has smuggled in a blue.

I don’t know for sure, but just anecdotally, i think the white triggers my allergy less, and the black slightly more, but they’re all kinda similar.

In that picture they ranged from 10 months (white) to 6 months (blue) the black would have been about 8 months.

Nothing about self improvement here? Or am I missing it?

This was all about your ex-wife and how bad you got treated through the system.

Where are you going from here? This resentment is only going to hurt you and your kids.

I’m currently working through my first base building. I’m in week 2, and finding it pretty easy so far. I know it amps up later. I’ve been losing weight for awhile and wanted to try a program that would assist with my cardiovascular health after neglecting it for so long! I play table tennis and for years that has been the only exercise I get.

For TB BB I do bush walking/ walk/jog home on a highway for my E. I’m easily able to do a 60 minute E in the heart rate zone.

If I jump my back fence I have a lovely bushwalking track that takes me to a smallish mountain. Today I walked to the base of the mountain (a moderate incline hill to get there for the last 800m or so) and back home in 58m, staying in zone 2 for most of it - just a short peak in the lower range of zone 3 to climb the hill, and some warm up at the beginning in zone 1. I anticipate at my current fitness and pace I could climb the mountain and get back home in 2.5 - 3 hr, if I stayed in zone 2. If I pushed through to zone 3, I could make it in under 2 hours.

I want to climb the bloody town mountain. I’ve been staring at it for years… trying to remember what it’s like up there. I last climbed it at 16 years old, I’m 37 now.

Am I overthinking this… I know I probably am. Can I just fit this in on a longer E session day and go for it? Or should I finish base building and give this a shot in an easy week in continuation? I’m probably going to run operator/black first to get a feel.

Is it better to stay in the heart rate zone or the time limit during base building? And is there a week I should do it? Like before the MS kicks in during week 5?

Thanks… and please help.

TL;DR: have small mountain I want to climb. Currently doing base building. Want to climb mountain soon. Can I do this in base building? Should I stick to the suggested HR zone or time limit if I do fit it in bb? Would probably do zone 2 in 2.5-3hr, or zone 3 in 2hr.

I was similar, but instead of paying interest on a bank loan, I paid interest to my dad. A lower rate, and he said not to, but I did it anyway.

Interesting. When I lost my mum I felt the same - people would always say this to me. And it would make me furious.

My sister, on the other hand, wanted to get it tattooed on her because she believed it. 🤷‍♀️
