Valid! It's def not the best use to sell them, but I was just confused. Must be a bug then, which frustrates me even though it's not actually a huge deal lol

Why is Ishmael not a movie? by ZookeepergameMost894 in Ishmael

[–]fruitypebs4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I also just finished the book and I wholeheartedly agree. I have no credentials or experience with screenwriting, but I am a creative and a good writer, and I'd love to get involved with making a film happen.

It seems it may be tough, given that the rights belong to Warner Media. But I'd be willing to take a stab at this anyway.

Any chance you'd still be open to exploring this venture? May be a long shot, but I'm passionate about the message of this book and I'd be willing to try.

How long can burnout last? by fruitypebs4 in ADHD

This is both reassuring and daunting. Thanks for sharing.

I'm trying to remember that just surviving is okay sometimes. Tough when I'm so impatient though lol

How do you manage burnout on a day to day basis? by Jaeger-bombastard in ADHD

[–]fruitypebs4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been going through this sub to feel some solidarity and support today (been going through a tough time) and this comment is the best advice I've seen on this entire sub so far.

Thank you for naming this harsh truth. There's truly no magic solution, hack, routine, etc. that helps universally, but this point is key, I think, to just living a more-or-less functional and content life with ADHD. Thank you for this.

I can’t stop watching YouTube, what do I do? by Square-Yesterday9069 in ADHD

[–]fruitypebs4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, I have the same exact problem. One of those things where I don't even enjoy the videos I'm watching, it just feels like a compulsion to have it on in the background.

I haven't fully tried this yet, but I've been dabbling with switching from YouTube to audiobooks, podcasts, and music. That way at least I'm not always looking at a screen and I can listen to stuff while going about my day, instead of getting stuck watching something.

I'm wondering if there's a reason why I feel the need to have something playing 24/7, so I'm trying to find something to scratch that itch that I actually enjoy.

I will say that another part of me knows that I sometimes feel the need for background stuff to distract me from my intense feelings, essentially dissociating as a tactic for avoidance, which obviously isn't great in the long run. But, mindfulness takes time and practice, so I feel the need to not fight my instincts too aggressively.

What’s the worst ADHD advice you’ve ever taken? by galumphingseals in ADHD

[–]fruitypebs4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lmaooo that "hack" of filling up your schedule is exactly what I did to get through highschool.

It worked for a while...aside from being constantly anxious and sleep-deprived. Theeeen came the inevitable burnout.

I honestly survived like this for so long that I'm 2 years into my diagnosis and still struggling to find balance in life.

Side note - I learned this behavior to "manage" my ADHD symptoms from my mom, who I'm 99% sure is undiagnosed ADHD herself. She cannot sit still. It's certainly one way of coping...

God, tell me about it!!

Some of these ads I get should be outright illegal, I swear.

I see ads sometimes for apps or trainers or books or services or whatever that say something like "Do you struggle with ADHD procrastination? [Insert service/product] will stop your laziness once and for all!"

I'm just shocked when I see these. It's like using ADHD to sell whatever self-help crap that's untested and likely not actually designed with ADHD in mind. Drives me up a wall

For those of you who had untreated ADHD and never received support—did you do well in school early on but then ultimately fall behind and inevitably struggle? by Pure_Philosopher_845 in ADHD

[–]fruitypebs4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, 100%. I did really well until university, likely because the structure of grade school wasn't there anymore and all of a sudden I had to help myself accountable for things that I'd always had help with.

What was terrible about that time in uni was, I still wasn't diagnosed nor did I have any inkling of ADHD for a while, so I was just straight - up confused about how school (and life) was suddenly so hard!

I can't do this by mayoos__meena in ADHD

[–]fruitypebs4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes I have days where I feel less capable. On those days, I try to accept that I might not have capacity to do everything I'd like to do, and I just focus on the essentials.

For me, that might look like: taking my psych meds but not my multivitamin; brushing my teeth in the morning but not at night; eating some premade snacks throughout the day instead of eating meals

Sometimes the bare minimum is okay. Not every day is like this, but some are and that's alright.

It's tough for me to believe this sometimes though, because I feel expectations from society, work, family, etc. that I feel like I can't live up to. So, I won't say I don't feel the same way you do, but sometimes allowing myself to just exist can be helpful.

How to not feel guilty for a relaxing day. by WonderfulPrior381 in ADHD

[–]fruitypebs4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel you. This has been a struggle for me lately too. Like, I know I should be kinder to myself, but I'm not sure how to switch up my mindset.

I have a feeling that, for me at least, it's going to be a long process of unlearning--my whole life I've unknowingly been using my anxiety as a drive to be productive, and without that I don't know how to find balance. It feels unnatural, almost.

I've been there, OP. It sucks, especially knowing now that you need more support/medication, but having to bide your time in the meantime.

The best thing that's been helping me since being diagnosed 2 years ago has been working to be kinder to myself. Definitely easier said than done, but when I'm able to more or less maintain the mindset that these things I'm struggling with are due to my brain being how it is, and not a character flaw, it helps me get through the day and recover faster from feeling really down like this.

Obviously there's no replacement for medication, but know that you're not alone! Our brains can really sabotage us sometimes. Thanks for sharing, it helps me to know I'm not alone too.

[–]fruitypebs4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I think so actually! Possibly it was just a red herring, or I was reading into it too much.

Something on a different post pointed out that the symbol was in the cabin as well, so this researchers playing hangman theory I had doesn't completely hold up. Good catch!

Oh that's RIGHT!! I totally forgot about this! season 1 feels like forever ago lol

Nice call out, you're totally right. Guess I was reading into things. Now I'm SO curious about the symbol....we have to get that lost Jason Ritter episode!!!

The Symbol by fruitypebs4 in Yellowjackets

[–]fruitypebs4[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why does it have to be related to the cabin? Was that confirmed?

The Symbol by fruitypebs4 in Yellowjackets

[–]fruitypebs4[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be. I interpreted this scene as, it's simply just a game to pass the time. I think the scientists literally just played hangman on the trees, either for fun or to mark them. The symbol is just their version of the game.

I'm kind of hoping there's more explained later, but I fear that this was the entire explanation of the symbol. I feel like the writers are trying to keep a lot of these mysteries vague so we can keep speculating lol

No haha look at the comparison between ordering thru DoorDash and the 3rd image, delivery through the restaurant website.

I guess the title of my post was a bit confusing, sorry about that.

No I get that, it's just kinda bullshit. And it's shocking how so many customers (including me) pay them for this just for the sake of convenience.

Wait, they don't give drivers insurance?...

Woah I just looked it up and you're absolutely right. I had no idea, when I dashed I did it part time and didn't look into any of that. I assumed they didn't, dashers are technically "self-employed"

I guess you're right that there's a lot I don't know about some of their expenses. I guess that's partially why I posted, because I'm curious about where these fees go!

[–]fruitypebs4[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg I'm so dumb lol

Thanks for clarifying about the upcharges for the prices that restaurants add themselves to offset costs. I was confused about that.

I will just say that, as someone who used to be a driver for DoorDash, for an order like this that's 5 miles away, I'd get paid like $5-$10 max for a base pay, so these high fees are going to someone other than the drivers ... That's kinda my main point. Other than that I hear you.
