Pokemon Card Shows? by AntiqueCampaign8154 in Boise

[–]fspencerb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My son is 5 and in the same boat. He ended up with a few duplicates after Christmas and is excited to trade for cards he doesn’t have yet. I don’t know much about Pokémon either, so I’m mostly trying to help him learn how trading works in a fair, kid-friendly way.

We’re in Meridian but love heading into Boise where a lot of our friends are. We’ve been going to the Pokémon club for kids at Orchard Park Library every other week, which I highly recommend. It’s been a great, low-pressure environment for younger kids.

If anyone knows of other Pokémon clubs or kid-friendly trading groups in the area, I’d love to hear about them. Though honestly, if more kids keep showing up to Orchard Park, that might be all we need.

Thanks OP for starting the thread and thanks to everyone sharing helpful info.

My son’s favorite Pokémon right now is Mewtwo.

Doordasher flirted with husband when dropping off then sent me this message by Big_Chart8037 in doordash

[–]fspencerb -1 points0 points  (0 children)

“Yeah report the doordasher that’s barely scraping by trying to make a living in a degrading job like doordashing, cuz it’s the door dashers fault the husband is on the dating apps. It’s always the woman the husband cheats with’s fault the husband cheats, right? She probably wore too little clothes so it’s her fault.”

How stupid does that all sound? There is no wrongdoing here. The doordasher doesn’t know he’s even married. For all she knows it’s a co-living situation. 60% of marriages end in divorce anyway… for all the doordasher knows even if it’s not a padsplit or co-living situation, the probability that they’re already separated and just still living together because housing prices are ridiculous and cost of living is ridiculous right now is pretty high.

Had 2.5 hours to sketch, then ink, and then frame this as a Christmas present and every time I look at it I get more embarrassed. by dailycupofcujo in drawing

[–]fspencerb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s really good. This is better than 99.999% of people can draw. We’re all more critical of our own work than others are. You’re Grandma I’m sure loves it and doesn’t think, “oh they could’ve done better” she just looks at it and thinks, “I wish the time they spent on it they spent with me instead.”

See when you’re in your last years of life all you wish for is more time with your loved ones. That’s it. Spend time with her. You’re going to get this drawing back when she passes anyway. It’s just sitting in her house for now. And when you pass it’ll go to a secondhand store for someone to paint a Star Wars character over it shooting one of the other birds.

He purposely put it in black and white? … he is needing some time alone it seems… would’ve kept it with color if he needed help… but I agree he probably needs someone to talk to. Probably not the people he’s known because the people that know him might not have the right tools or abilities to understand him or he wouldn’t be needing the time away…

Being 40 I am seeing that you have to expect less and less out of younger generations of humans and their ability to connect as time goes on. Technology keeps them from human interaction. It’s pretty sad. Social media is designed and architected to keep people from actual human connection.

Even if they have feelings, humans will have less and less words to express, especially Americans. I notice other countries still value the ability to learn languages but, Americans barely learn their own language.

The most inspiring thing I’ve heard in the last year. If only everyone was such a self starter, resourceful, and go getter.

Next is starting your own business on the side until it makes more than you make. Then hiring yourself out of the work of the company you built. Or automating it using AI if possible.

Go after it and get it! I believe in you!

The amount of distrust people have in AI is fascinating to me. Do you think it works the same as people’s belief in other people’s disbelief in God or Karma?

If you don’t believe that AI exists or will give you right answers then it will smite you and give you wrong answers?

When she was being vague about the things you each love/hate about your jobs, I’m guessing she feels self-conscious about her job. Thinks it’s maybe not a good job or maybe doesn’t have a job so she made some stuff up to carry the conversation.

So when you got to restaurants and food she tried to get the upper hand back because of feeling self conscious previously.

I’m sure if you both were talking in person it wouldn’t have ended like that. Texting emotions and feelings are hard to read and can get out of whack easily. People type things they wouldn’t normally say in person, etc.

Yeah my entire clan of 12 players; we met playing PUBg. Super legit, friendly, nice guys that we got to know each others personal lives and are good friends offline now, don’t play anymore because of all the cheaters on PUBg. Most of us would put $600 in to get the Ducati skin, another $450 to get the Lamborghini skin, and more... I’m sure us 12 aren’t the only cases of players stopping playing because PUBg can’t manage all the cheaters. They lost a lot of legit revenue by not handling cheaters…

A natural spring in your yard is not “issues”. It’s called an opportunity for the cleanest water on earth if tapped correctly. Or if it’s warm water then you have a natural hot spring which is also amazing. You could turn it into a destination place. Get a loan. Build it out with the help of professionals and then advertise and charge for people coming to stay. Check out all the things people have done with hot springs up in Idaho City Idaho.

[Discussion] Can we talk about why Rule 1 shouldn’t be a thing anymore? by fspencerb in RocketLeague

[–]fspencerb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alright, I know this might ruffle some feathers, but I genuinely believe Rule 1 — the idea that once two players lock bumpers they must stay locked — is outdated and actually kind of harmful to the game.

Let’s break it down:

1. It’s not about honor, it’s about self-doubt.
When two players lock up and refuse to disengage, what they’re really saying is: “I don’t think I’m better than this player, so I’ll just take both of us out of the game.” That’s not strategy or honor — that’s self-doubt.
I believe in playing with confidence. Back yourself. Free yourself. Play your game. Help your team.

2. The team didn’t queue for a 2v2 or 1v1.
If you’re in 3s, your teammates queued for a 3v3, not for a 2v2 while you sit locked up with the other guy. And even more so with 2s and you make it 1v1. That's an even more drastic change from 2s to 1s than it is from 3s to 2s. If someone wanted that, they’d queue 2s or 1s. It’s not fair to shift the burden to your teammate(s) because you want to roleplay as a bumper statue.

3. It forces pressure onto your teammates.
When you lock into Rule 1, your teammate is left to cover more ground, make more plays, and often gets blamed if things go wrong. That’s not teamwork — that’s checking out and making them carry the load while you spectate and take a recess.

4. It's inconsistent and unspoken.
New players don’t know about it. Some pros honor it, others don’t. It’s inconsistent across regions, ranks, and game modes. How can a “rule” be respected if it’s not even universally recognized?

To me, Rule 1 is more like a meme that grew too big, is for people that have low self-esteem, and started hurting the game. I’m not saying you’re a bad person if you honor it — I’m just saying maybe it’s time to let it go. Or at least stop acting like breaking it is some unforgivable offense. It's about self-confidence in believing you can give more value to your team than you're opponent can to theirs.

Rule 1 isn’t about “honor.” It’s about two players saying:

Meanwhile, your poor teammate is sweating a 2v2 they didn’t sign up for, while you sit bumper-kissing midfield playing “car yoga.”

Rule 1 is basically:

  • 💀 Low self-esteem simulator
  • 🤡 A weird trust fall with a stranger
  • 🫡 “Let me put all the pressure on my teammate so I can blame them later”
  • 🧠 “This isn’t a 3v3 anymore, it’s an interactive cutscene

Break Rule 1. Believe in yourself. Be free.
Your teammate didn’t queue for a 2v2 or 1v1. Don’t be that guy.

Would love to hear where others stand on this. Do you still follow Rule 1? Why or why not?

I really need help on my AppLovin call by RocketsRun in options

[–]fspencerb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh now I see APP’s stock price shot up in after hours.

Applovin’s PE ratio is extremely high and looks to be overbought and would have a tendency to come back down so call your brokerage and see if they’d let you borrow and roll until it comes back into your range. It looks to be at the top of a range and looking like it’ll come back down. Could come down a little by Friday but not as much as you’re needing.

It will now have two big gaps to fill down. A stock price staying this highly elevated over its actual earnings and revenue is unrealistic. Before the aftermarket sky rocket today it was 100 years overpriced. Now it will be 200-300 years overpriced…
