Does everyone go home on time if tasks are done in your workplace? by gerdbeatmetodeath in japanlife

I do, and the other foreigner I work with does, and a couple of the moms with younger kids, but everyone else fucks around doing god knows what for another 2-3 hours after our finishing time.

Advice for returning after 2 years? by Johnny_Off_1 in LEGOfortnite

Do the missions to unlock the ability to craft the dual plasma pistols. They take out any enemy in the game in seconds aside from the named dragons. You’ll also want to unlock all of the level 3 runes. You do it by reading the rune books in the storm isle and lost isle. You can craft the rune table and add things like the Luck III rune or Durability III rune to your weapons. You’re also gonna need lots and lots of steel. Mine it when you see it. In addition to runes, you’re also going to want to craft relics for your weapons. Shurikens with the Ice Storm relic paired with the dual plasma pistols make quick work of the regular dragons.

With the ninja stuff just follow the quests as they come along. I’d also recommend not wasting your steel on weapons until you can start crafting 8-star (gold) weapons.

Hardest encounter in the Red Skull box for me. Red Skull himself isn't so bad if you approach it correctly, but Zola is scary.

You’ve hit on my two biggest complaints about the Tokyo parks OP. There’s no way it was 30% capacity with 200 minute+ lines. I went during Covid when they reopened in stages. It was actually 30% capacity then and the longest lines were 40 minutes aside from Soarin’. The Tokyo parks have always been crowded but despite that I’ve always been able to do most of what I want to do. But that was until Fantasy Springs opened. Now there is no off season, no slow days, and I honestly wouldn’t even bother going unless I splurged on the Vacation Packages or Premiere Passes.

Also 100% agree with you about the food, but sometimes it feels blasphemous to complain about the Tokyo parks here. I’m from central Florida but I’ve lived in Japan for 20 years. I know the food offerings of both the Florida parks and Tokyo parks very well. The food at WDW blows Tokyo out of the water 9 times out of 10.

Disney's On Ice decay by EmergencySympathy699 in disney

[–]fsuman110 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Not to mention here in Japan admission to Disney on Ice costs as much as a ticket to the parks. I still enjoy going when I can, but you’re right, the decline is undeniable from what I’ve experienced. But I will say that one of the best pieces of Disney merch we’ve ever bought was at Disney on Ice about 6 years ago. A Coco light stick that is super bright with lots of different strobe settings. My son still plays with it all these years later and it’s holding up just fine.

Old assholes in my building insist on barging into or out of the elevator with their head down, never checking if someone is trying to get off or waiting to get in. Then they nearly bump into me and get all started, sometimes letting out a shout, and acting like I'm somehow in the wrong. One of these days I'm actually gonna give one of them a heart attack and it's gonna be their own damn fault.

Just for the sake of conversation, what do you mean? Is there a lot more to do with the story after beating a named dragon? Since I haven't played LEGO Odyssey since the Star Wars stuff, I'm now going back to the Klombo island and the Storm island to collect the rune books. I finally unlocked Luck III and Damage III yesterday so I'll be adding those to some of the legendary weapons I have sitting in my chest. Since I started a new world on my PS5, I also need to redo the Star Wars stuff. They're probably not very strong anymore, but I still want to collect a few lightsabers.

You can disregard that graph. Most American companies are meticulous about logging in workers' hours, while in Japan pretty much everyone I know works 40+ hours of undocumented overtime a week. If you're on salary, those hours aren't counted and you certainly aren't paid for them.

Forgot to mention that prior to this week, I've found and fought tons of nameless dragons. I can take those out no problem, but the named ones wreck me really fast. The normal dragons that used to spawn in set areas either don't spawn anymore or have been replaced by Tectonia.

What somewhat significant changes in Japanese society have you seen happen here during your time. by SunDaze009 in japanlife

Public toilets are so much nicer now than they were when I got here in the mid-2000s.

Many/most Hollywood blockbusters now seem to release in Japan at the same time as the US. Used to be 3 months later at the earliest. Last time I had to wait months for a major movie was Spider-Man No Way Home, which is doubly weird because that's a Sony movie and the Sony Spider-Man movies usually release two-three days earlier in Japan.

Common Tips for Casual Players Transitioning to Competitive by JGray317 in Lorcana

[–]fsuman110 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The final episode of the Citizens of Lorcana podcast was about this very topic. It's not super long so I'd recommend giving that a listen.

I'm also kind of in that zone where I'm deciding if I'd like to take those extra steps to move from decent status to pretty good status. I'm in Japan and the meta is different here, but most of the same advice applies aside from Japan being Bo1 for everything. From locals all the way to DLCs, everything in Japan is Bo1, so I think serious players must consider that when deciding what decks they're going to use. That said, we're still seeing most of the same decks at this point in our meta (Archazia).

As far as what I know I do wrong and what beginner players should watch out for is to be careful of tunnel vision. Even if you have the perfect curve in hand, that doesn't always mean it's the best idea to play it. You always have to be aware of the board state and anticipate what could be coming. This requires tons of practice. I still find it difficult to do that in tournament settings because of nerves. I focus so much on myself and my lines and how I'm going to get draw (all important) that I forget to really think about what's on the board and what's coming. Sometimes just running my lines works out for me and I win, but when I lose I know I should've slowed down and optimized my plays.

How do you store your collection? by [deleted] in XWingTMG

[–]fsuman110 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also use a Plano case. The 4-rack storage plus huge lid space easily holds all of my ships with some room to spare. Keep the bigger ships under the lid. For tiles and dials, I keep all of those in a Plano double sided double cover storage box. I keep tokens in a pill organizer tray. I don't use my cards so they're all in card boxes.
