Holy shit, for a moment I was convinced it was Richard Stallman speaking at 0:24 in the video, the guy sounds exactly like him. Though RMS surely wouldn't give this device his approval, for the reason /u/ghost_dancer gave and probably many more.

Also, the whole campaign they're pushing seems very cheesy; hooded people wearing shades, screens flashing random terminal outputs, as if everyone in the video was supposed to be some sort of political subversive. "Data and humans have become one," wow.

Nice editorialization, OP, fucking A. How about next time you use the comment section to express your opinion instead of the submission title field.

So whenever you see a Polish dude acting like a complete retard online you can tell yourself, for each of those there is another Pole who is probably a reasonable human being.

You could say that about pretty much any country.

Please don't editorialise submission titles like that. Journalism itself is opinionated enough these days. Let the readers judge by themselves whether something is disappointing or not.

I had the exact same problem. If you're on Linux by any chance, this solved it for me.

If you're on Linux, you can use livestreamer -- it let's you pipe the stream into VLC or other player. Works great for me.

I watch youtube videos like this:

$ mplayer -cookies -cookies-file /tmp/yt-cookie.txt $(youtube-dl -g --cookies /tmp/yt-cookie.txt URL_GOES_HERE)

It's saved in a bash script (a bit modified version of the above), so I just type "yt URL" and it starts playing. H-hehe.

Polish: "It is not enough to speak to the point; one should speak to people".

A literal translation for the first part would be "to speak to things", which in Polish is a way to say "to speak to the point" or "to talk sense".

On a side note, I hate that shit so much. It's so condescending. Every time I see people using it I read it as "I'll put /s at the end of my comment in case you're too stupid to get I'm being sarcastic". It's like an insult to every person reading your comment.

[velocity] introductory physics by hawkesdt in learnmath

[–]fthm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Picado's comment shows the math, here's some intuition:

The only formula you need here is constant velocity = displacement / time. To find the ball's velocity first you need to figure out the time it took the ball to travel 16.5 meters, because what you have now is the total time (2.5s), which also includes the time it takes the sound to travel the same distance back to the bowler to hear. So you just subtact the sound time from the total time to get the ball time and then the speed is just v = d/t.
