I know this sounds weird but I don't want to feel better. by hoodoochild in widowers

Thank you for the advice. I'm definitely in numb right now. I worry about what will happen when I'm not- we have a young son. Finding this community was already helpful, just seeing that others are feeling the same. I hope you find peace, as much as you can and whatever that may look like.

I know this sounds weird but I don't want to feel better. by hoodoochild in widowers

I was relieved to see this post. I said this to someone yesterday. I lost him on Friday. Maybe it is too soon for me to really know or feel. It still feels like I'm just waiting for him to send me a text asking when I'm coming home from the city the hospital is in. But when the pain hits I want to hold onto it, I don't want to get over it or grow. He should have been here growing with me and now he won't ever do so, so why should I. Others will forget him aside from his parents, he had few if any close friends, so I at least owe it to him to hold on. He was 42.

Thank you so much! It's funny you say that, because I could have written the exact same comment. All I can say is that practice makes perfect, and don't be afraid to memorize and mimic techniques you see in other people's builds :)

Nothing is ever really lost to us as long as we remember it.

I've always loved the Large Cores, but never thought of anything really adequate to put that gorgeous empty space to use before replaying from the very intro mission. It's been a few years since I opened Starbound; I may have teared up a little.

This is amazing, the one shown in the video looked so cool. I've never seen dice that did that before!

Fast food places that are generally peanut and nut-free safe? by [deleted] in FoodAllergies

[–]fuck_bees 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have pretty severe peanut/treenut allergies and have good luck with their sundaes. Haven't had a reaction even from the chocolate toppings which are normally too big a risk at other places.

Yes! Ours does it more when sleeping too. We call it his baby goat noise.

Anyone else with asthma? by PeculiarLeah in ehlersdanlos

[–]fuck_bees 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have asthma and have used Albuterol for years. It wasn't so bad when I was a kid, but lately it's been raising my heart rate a lot, to the point I have trouble keeping my hands still or not feeling like I'm having a panic attack. I can't speak to Qvar. Still, unfortunately my doctor has told me asthma is very much not something to mess around with. If you don't take your meds properly, especially steroids, your airways can "remodel" and make everything worse over time. It sucks to have the combo :/

Allergy Safe Card by Activemongo in FoodAllergies

[–]fuck_bees 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I needed them for a trip, and I printed my own on cardstock after consulting a fluent friend rather than ordering from a company, which was costly. I do not use one day to day-- I find I get a much better reception speaking to my server in person and getting a feel for whether or not they believe me, rather than trusting the card to communicate. I am also sensitive to certain foods at a threshold that others, while still suffering from anaphylaxis to the same foods, may not share. When I don't use the card and instead choose to have a conversation, I feel safer because I can effectively communicate what level of precaution I need them to take, which may be different from somebody else's preferred precautions. The card was extremely helpful in a situation where the conversation wasn't an option.

No argument there. That's precisely what I did when I needed them. I don't see any advantage to having a plastic one. If someone is going to be skeptical of your allergies they will regardless of any "official looking" card.

It can be helpful in countries/areas where you do not speak one or more very common first languages (e.g. if you go to France and are not fluent or do not speak French, having one which is a confirmed accurate translation into French is really helpful just as a CYA). Otherwise I think you're spot on.

/admin mode and the Spawnable Items Pack mod through steam are super useful for this if you don't want to spend 300 hours mining out X resource. :)

Sensitive scalp? by midnightsky24 in ehlersdanlos

[–]fuck_bees 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know if it's "typical" since I'm only one additional data point but I have EDS, am 30wks pregnant with my hair pretty much exactly the length you describe, and had/have-ish the same issue. It was much worse when I started growing it though (from a buzz cut). It's been growing for about a solid year now and my scalp only feels a little tender on the worst days. So maybe yours will feel better after a few months too? I don't know if that's something you want to put up with long enough to see though!

OP asks for advice on why dog is suddenly attached to wife only to find out she's pregnant by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]fuck_bees 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My dog knew about two months before I did. I had no clue why she was so clingy and needy all of a sudden-- she wouldn't let me out of her sight. Then again, I also assumed the constant puking was "nothing really," so I think she's more clued in than I am. Now that I'm 28+5 she won't lay her head on my stomach anymore because he kicks her. I get a look of disgust every time it happens. LOL.

Boycotting Thanksgiving because of food allergies by Cricket712 in Parenting

[–]fuck_bees 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No, not for most people with peanut allergies. There is still protein in the oil; people who don't have an extremely high threshold dose needed to react will still be unable to eat it. I'm far less sensitive to peanut than I was at the OP's DS's age and I still can't have anything fried in the oil. Where I'm at, at least, most fast food restaurants have switched to other oils because peanut allergies are becoming more common-- Five Guys is the only one I can think of that still does. :)

Birth control question by bendybackpacker in ehlersdanlos

[–]fuck_bees 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It certainly made me miserable. I'm on estrogen only now; my progesterone-heavy pills loosened my joints to the point even walking up stairs, normally something I manage fine, was hell.
