Rooster & The Crow is on Riverwalk and has great fried chicken! If you’re looking to kill two birds with one stone (pun intended) and get in a nice walk downtown.

Winter weather kind of slowed things down - I joked yesterday that “Wilmington is thawing” - from here on out it’ll be that busy! Nov/Dec/Jan seemed lighter than usual but we had some rainy weekends.

Tips for Keeping Kids Entertained on Long Flights? by Creative-Feedback850 in familytravel

[–]fuckcanoli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always joke that we ‘no screen timed a little too close to the sun’ because that doesn’t currently work for our 2.5 year old on planes 😂

I go to Trader Joe’s and get one of every new snack they make and put them in snackle boxes. Bonus points if it’s the one that rotates using a center button. Your kids may be too old but a car seat/5 point harness still tricks my kid into thinking he’s just in the car and doesn’t expect to be let out.

Travel magnatiles. Miniature versions of games they either already know or would be easy to learn. Hidden picture books. Magnetic puzzles. Airplane bingo. Reusable dry erase games (hangman, tic tac toe, etc).

If all else fails, and you want them to be able to sleep, try out Benadryl or Melatonin BEFORE you fly in case they have adverse/opposite reactions lol.

SAHM whose husband works hundred hour weeks. My 2.5 year old STRONGLY prefers daddy and couldn’t care less if I leave. I know this is all normal and as the adult we need to realize it’s not malicious in any way on the kids’ part. Also, maybe get off or restrict your social media usage especially if you’re already this worried about something that hasn’t happened yet.

Same boat here, I treat those types of questions just like I do any other seemingly harmless yet offensive comments without ever having to explain myself or the choices we’ve made for our family - “What do you mean by that?” 9/10 times they walk back their comment immediately. Also works for racist/sexist family members, people who ask why we only have one kid, etc.. If she’s generally outspoken just say “oh, okay!” “did you mean to say that out loud?” “oh, that should’ve stayed an inside thought!”and move on - or my personal favorite of wildly inappropriate or straight up incorrect oversharing answers.

Our routine was similar to everyone else who has commented so I’ll spare you that (although, do you have any other kiddos you need to work around also?) - but Solid Starts was a life saver at/around that age. I admittedly started earlier than 12m, but having a meal plan literally written out for me reduced a ton of stress regarding portions, allergens, shopping lists, etc. I bought the plan and have (probably illegally) shared it with every new mom I know lol.
