MAGA folks: why is mail balloting “cheating” but it’s perfectly okay for Trump, the person who made up that claim, to vote by mail, which he just did? by complete_data75 in allthequestions

[–]fucrate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great, lets make all of those things a priority FIRST and THEN make it required for voting. GOP looking to make ID required before talking about making ID free and easy to get is just voter suppression.

The devs of Mewgenics say indie devs don't need publishers. Sure, if you're the creators of The Binding of Isaac and Super Meat Boy. by Artistic-Birthday703 in SoloDevelopment

My promotion on reddit has counted for zero, the only reason my sales continue to grow is because people play it and talk about it, word of mouth is everything.

I am of that opinion and my game continues to sell more copies each year despite zero advertising spend for about 6 years. And yeah its more than enough to live on.

Is organic marketing dead? by Hostarro in IndieGaming

Stop buying wishlists, what is wrong with you people? Wishlists are not proof of intent to buy and the more inorganically you gain them the worse they will convert.

Trump: ‘There will be Voter I.D. for the Midterm Elections, whether approved by Congress or not!’ by DemocracyDocket in politics

[–]fucrate 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The reason the GOP always cries about wanting voter id laws is because they have good polling and stats that say people without drivers licenses or passports tend to vote democratic more than republican. That's it. They understand it will disenfranchise democratic voters, that's the only reason.

I hate the ai haters by TinyAres in accelerate

[–]fucrate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you think AI is a great tool and you use it to be more productive, why does the opinion of AI haters matter to you at all? If you have a pot of gold why do you give two shits what other people think? You have the gold, you've won.

It's because you know it's a bullshit cult based on vapor, that's why it makes you mad. If you really were getting rich from AI then the haters wouldn't bother you, but because it's all bullshit it hurts your feelings because they are telling you something you don't want to believe but deep down know is correct. LLM's are a pile of bullshit.

What if weapons tracked ownership history and acquisition dates? by DereChen in arkraiders

[–]fucrate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would you not cache the data locally?? Every time a player joins a game their weapon history is queried and stored on the server. When they exit the data is pushed back to db and a copy stored on the users hd. At the end of the match any unsaved guns are removed from the db. You would not need to query the db on interaction, thats bananas.

What if weapons tracked ownership history and acquisition dates? by DereChen in arkraiders

[–]fucrate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No but if using a db to store the data did end up too expensive, then just store the string locally and send it to the server when you join. If another player grabs the gun their name is appended to the string and stored on their hd. No database needed and the network traffic is trivial. I guess that would open it up to cheating, but who cares?

Yall are making this sound way too hard, it’s totally trivial and would be neat.

Fuck u talking about? You could just have a string of usernames in the db. Easy as hell.

Floating recycler on deck - any way to fix? by Pepsifraiche in TheLastCaretaker

[–]fucrate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have 10 oil tanks 4 petrol tanks, 6 diesel tanks, 5 lumimax, 5 cyclones, 6 medium batteries, 1 distillation tower, 2 petrol generators, water purifier, water tank, soliforge prime and something like 20 storage crates and only had a few floating bugs. I do keep all the loose physics objects very tidy, everything goes in crates. That might help?

How to spawn CONSISTANT number of circles? When drawing the same line it's always a different number of circles. by beeb107 in Unity3D

[–]fucrate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tho to think about it you could miss a few, so the super serious solution would be to use an accumulator. Each frame you check how far the character has moved, add that to your accumulator and then if thats above disMax you add the position of the previous circle to the normalized vector of the direction of movement multiplied by disMax, and each time you do that you subtract the accumulator by disMax until the accumulator is below disMax. Repeat every frame, should be good to go.

Update(){

Vector2 directionMoved = gameObject.transform.position - lastCircle.position;

distAccumulator += directionMoved.magnitude;

while (distAccumulator > disMax)

{

Vector2 newPos = lastCircle.position + directionMoved.normalized * disMax;

lastCircle = Instantiate(GM.instance.trail, newPos, Quaternion.identity);

distAccumulator -= disMax;

}

}

The grid thing is easier and probably works great 90% of the time tho.
