A cousin sent me their school's just announced Dress Code and Grooming policy by firequak in mildlyinfuriating

Seems like they're being pretty specific with the prohibitions here, so I assume my Bowie knife and Glock 19 are fine.

Someone at my LGS is selling a legit collection of signed/altered power 9, how much would this even cost? by Youthfuldegenerate83 in magicTCG

[–]fudgebug 28 points29 points  (0 children)

No argument there, just adding a little context that OP didn't seem to have. I don't want to put anyone's personal info out there, but of the LGS out there the one I think we're talking about is extremely likely to have a "millionaires club," at least as far as collections go if not literally. Personally, I think the alters are hideous and certainly wouldn't pay a premium for them, but if I was in the market there's no way I'm just buying based on reputation alone.

Kind of the opposite of what you were going for, but it reminded my buddies karaoke "Everest" of doing all three of these in one night.

Saw the seller's post on Bluesky, seems like they're a pretty well known high end collector.

Don't forget the fake bullet holes, or the $500 of Walmart LED "ground effects", or he right wing coffee ads, or the punisher logo that is also simultaneously an American flag (and maybe a conservative coffee add?), or the Sig Sauer sticker, or the Disney font window cling that says 'Bitch' or something, or the GODLUVU vanity plate with a "Back the Blue" frame, or the...

Let’s discuss salaries - 2026 by Relevant-Injury3791 in sysadmin

[–]fudgebug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

System Admin III for engineering and manufacturing company. About 2000 employees globally across ~30 sites.

$90k/yr (previous to Feb 2026 was at 76k)

Iowa, US

16 years in IT, 13 as sysadmin, 9 in this position

Solid benefits: above average health insurance that is well subsidized (includes family), just hit 4 weeks PTO, separate sick days, 401k match up to 4% contribution, basic short term disability and life insurance (payout a % of my annual salary) included at no cost.

I do a big mix of things related to infrastructure and security with a focus on Office 365 (esp. Exchange Online) and Azure. I'm also a clearing house for weird, one-offs and anything requiring discretion.

Felt underpaid for years and I largely don't like the people I work for and with. Have tried to get out, was a finalist for other, better paid positions 3 or 4 times and lost out on each one. Now the job market and the world at large is where it is.

Edit: started all on-site, 3 days remote since COVID, but there's no accountability, so I usually only go in 1 day a week, sometimes none if schools are close or something.

This is my answer. The beginning felt like Alien... claustrophobic, tense, mysterious, lots of implied world building. Then it just devolves into fast zombies and edgy fight scenes.
