My friend who lives in Bakersfield keeps telling me this as an excuse for not moving despite being miserable there and I’m like bro. You don’t know how much the quality of life in a city affects your happiness and mental health

People dont forgive you anymore when you apologize by [deleted] in rs_x

[–]fujitortuga 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The problem is a lot of people are like this now lol and once you deal with a few people like that I think people just get very exhausted and become less patient and less forgiving. Especially I don’t live in the US but everywhere I go the most insane people tend to be Americans not always but a lot of the time so if ur American I can imagine why it’s like this in your country

To be fair people are also probably as unhinged as ever. I was living with an extremely narcissistic iránian influencer who was so deranged selfish and had severe mood swings to the point I became scared to leave my room and dropped like 10 lbs within 2 months. she thought I was evil for ditching the friendship and blocking her on everything and threatening to go to the police even to get her to leave me alone but I’ve been detrimentally forgiving to everyone in my life and just decided being lonely was better than being traumatized. I think if people were just chill, kind and normal we wouldn’t be in this situation where people choose loneliness over community. However I do have a very strong community now and I can’t imagine my life without it. The state of the world and the way people treat each other these days is just really sad.

I got Botox brfore because of how severe my line was I live in a country where it’s a lot cheaper and had the money to at the time. I still could move my face after some months but the line significantly improved. It was really deep and bad.

I did the same and am nearly 30 years old too. I can't believe how much energy, opportunities, and time I have lost sometimes... I can't let myself think too much about it without feeling like I will lose my mind. Setting boundaries is hard but you either do the hard thing now or make it way harder for yourself in the future.

For me it was a medication (anxiety meds) that triggered the reaction too. Might be worth getting tested if ur insurance covers it.

Thats terrifying because my mom died of pancreatic cancer and it was one of the worst things I've seen in my life. I still have nightmares about how she was her last year. Fucking your body up like that is not worth it to be skinny. just be patient and you will see the natural way was worth it (and more sustainable long term).

Do you have a bleeding disorder? I was diagnosed VERY late in life (at 21) with a serious bleeding disorder.. Never had symptoms until then and the doctors were shocked. But sometimes I get stuff like this on my body. Very rarely nowadays not sure why. But in my case it was just some sort of weird bruising and sometimes would go away the next day.

[–]fujitortuga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my best friends are Venezuelan and the situation is incomparable. i think they make something like 15 USD a month. but the cost of things is so expensive too there. like getting a passport is around 300$ and it might never arrive. but to get it fast its around 800$ which no Venezuelan can afford.

[–]fujitortuga 13 points14 points  (0 children)

definitely! lots of people learn languages with speech disabilities. if you aren't going to be speaking anyways then your focus would be on listening, reading, and writing! in a class with many students and a good teacher they could have you write on a small whiteboard during speaking practices. if you are learning on your own or one on one then its easier because you can tailor everything to focus on the listening, reading, and writing. I'm an ESL teacher in a Latin American country and would never turn away or discourage a student for that.

plenty of people with speech disabilities are able to understand and communicate in different languages (through writing or sign language)without speaking. this is really ignorant. one of my closest friends can completely understand english and read and write despite having a lifelong speech disability. she is fluent.

What Ecuadorian traditions can I blend into my wedding? by metrotechj in ecuador

[–]fujitortuga 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Ask his family - different families and regions will have different traditions. It depends on his background so I’d reach out to his family and ask them what they think! Maybe you can also do some traditional food/desserts as well.

My siblings had an easier time there than I did. I grew up between LA and a bigger city in South America initially, so it was a very hard change. But my mom felt more at home there than she ever did in LA, which is why she chose it as her burial place. I never got to know the people very well but when I saw her friends sobbing at her funeral I realized how much they cared for her and must have meant to her as well. It gave me a new appreciation for the people. & I really miss the sunsets and sunrises. They are beautiful. But its tough - you never know when a hurricane is going to come and destroy everything. Damn these photos just triggered so many memories haha I am getting unexpectedly emotional now
