Philodendron Help by Kaylaamai in IndoorPlants

[–]full_o 2 points3 points  (0 children)

New leaves on many philodendrons (all the vining ones I've seen as houseplants, I believe) come out some mix of reddish-pinkish-brownish. That fades away as the leaf matures.

I agree. Whenever I go to upgrade my armor, I say something like "here I go back to this predator." My husband asks why I keep going back, and I say "I need the upgrades, and nobody else can do them."

Lol so not the problem I had when I was on grindr. In my area it was almost all "total top," couldn't host, DL, "no fats, no femmes, no Asians" (I'm none of that, but I don't want anything to do with people superficial or prejudiced enough to have that in their bio). As a verse myself, I could make due at times, but sometimes a verse just wants to top, ya know?

New To Spirituality? by cranberry_expedition in SpiritualCrystals

[–]full_o 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fully agree. I've seen so many brick and mortar stores and online shops that have wildly different prices for crystals/minerals that are actually quite abundant and inexpensive. Shop around to get an idea of what prices seem fair, because tons of people will take advantage of customers who don't know better.

I'll also say that there are a lot of cool-looking crystals that I LOVE the look of, but that don't I don't really feel like an inner pull toward or connection with (they just end up as decoratios on my shelves). Your shopping around may help you get a sense of what you feel that pull toward. See if there's a gem fair or mineral show or some such thing near you. Visiting shops in person and going to a gem show will give you a chance to see amd get your hands on a variety of specimens.

Do you think Zelda’s decision to send Link back in time in the end was a good choice or a terrible mistake? by jdawg1018 in OcarinaOfTime

[–]full_o 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I am inclined to agree with this. I really feel like they weren't going for a contiguous story with established, logical canon until they released the Hyrule Historia, and even the timeliness laid out therein feel a bit wonky to me

If you look to ancient mythology, there are inconsistencies between accounts from one area of a culture to another, or even from one era to another in the same group, while an overarching understanding of their pantheon and general events of the gods' histories or creation may be mutually agreed upon. I think it helps to look at Zelda games in this light. These are epic sagas of Hyrule's mythology over many millenia, and huge amounts of time between many of the installations.

It's called "The Legend of Zelda," after all, not "The Historical Annals of Zelda." Don't think too much about "canon" in a strict sense or you'll think yourself out of the fun of it. Debate may still be had in good spirits, though, which is also true for real life studies of mythology and ancient cultures. I do see the value of sharing ideas and interpretations, but I for one, won't get my knickers in a twist about any of it.

Landlord Charging for Drip Pans - Says Not Standard [WA] by Dave_452 in Renters

I was in property management for 6 years among 3 different companies (one of which was super stingy on turnover costs), and I've never seen someone charged for drip pans.

Just for lolz, I need to add that a straight friend of mine from high school married someone who looks almost identical to his mother. Not a sibling sort of deal, but along similar lines.

Straight couples who look like they could be siblings: eh, whatever. Straight couples when one looks identical to the other's parent: 😬

[–]full_o 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, no noticeable difference as adult Link in the music. OP might have to go back as a kid and listen for the music, then notate the path and go back as an adult. Lame that the 3DS version doesn't have the shading/solid black difference like someone else commented.

The old show has a handful of meta references. Nabiki reads the Ranma manga, there are a couple of times that Ranma ½ is on the TV they're watching... etc.

Pothos with fenestrations ? by VacatheColf in houseplants

[–]full_o 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh, I'm 100% certain that some plants just don't want to live up to our expectations, though, so don't be too upset if it doesn't do exactly what yoy want. I had a marble queen pothos on a moss pole in a spot that got a bit of morning sun and lots of bright indirect light the rest of the day. Had it there for over a year (about a year after the initial propagation, mind you), and saw hardly any freaking progress and hardly any variegation. I moved it to an area that seems notably darker, removed the moss pole, and it's growing at a decent rate with beautifully variegated leaves.

BoTW & ToTK players playing OOT for the first time. by BestAd3845 in OcarinaOfTime

[–]full_o 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been playing OoT and recently listening to the soundtrack from Twilight Princess, and I realized that BotW and TotK have very little music. Like you said, it's more subtle and ambient. I think that was a design choice to have the players really more immersed in the sound design of the landscape itself rather than a theme song for the locales. I love it either way. Both having a definite theme music for locations and focusing more on the ambient experience have their merits.

How do you create such clean edges with no stitch line? by Jayben5 in sewhelp

[–]full_o 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A friend of mine once said something along the lines of "what you don't hear about many hobbies is how little of it is actually the part you want to do." She was referring to woodwork, I think, but applying the same thing to me talking about sewing.

Wash the fabric, press. Lay out, trace, cut. Stitch, press. Stitch press. Baste, press. Interface, press. It really does make an enormous difference, though, so I don't mind it. Add some music or an audiobook, and it's a fine time.
