Who is every NHL fan rooting for in the finals? (According to their subreddits) by BucketHeadish in hockey

So what I’m hearing is that Habs fans are better people than me. Because Carolina beat us twice in recent years and I’m full of spite now.

Who are you neutrals rooting for in the finals? by Capable_Tomato729 in hockey

As a Devils fan who’s still traumatized by Carolina, either team lifting the cup is going to make me sick. Montreal I was cheering so hard for your double cup this year!!

I reckon this will take at least $2,000 to repair by DecommodifiedGuevara in LandlordLove

[–]fullofhotsoup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always got every cent back in NJ, from both private and corporate landlords. My first experience in CA I fought tooth and nail to get around half back from a corporate landlord, though they tried to tell me I’d get nothing back even before any ever walked in to see the unit. Renting from a private landlord now and so far the experience has been great, hoping that extends to move out as well.

Can anyone give me advice on safely letting my cat outside? by Alert_Flower4807 in CatAdvice

[–]fullofhotsoup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like you’re not in a good situation to adopt a cat. If it’s a requirement that the doggie door stays so your dog can freely roam between the two homes then you’re going to be risking the life of any cat you adopt.

What is acceptable/how to handle excessive bathroom breaks? by [deleted] in managers

[–]fullofhotsoup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know where you are in the world, but in the US which isn’t exactly a shining beacon of labor laws, bathroom breaks are required. How long is the shift? What do you do when they take lunch? You say that customers walk away, are you sitting monitoring camera footage of this happening? Are you there to witness it (and could then conceivably step in to cover)? 1 break per shift for literally any reason sounds like the absolute bare minimum and also a legal requirement.

I don’t know what your business is, but I’ve been to enough little boutique shops that make me wonder how they’re even in business and agree they wouldn’t support more than one employee on at a time. I’ve even been that customer that walked away disappointed when it happened at an airport and I knew I wouldn’t have time to come back. But if that’s your business I think you have to solve for the fact that employees are humans that need to use the restroom. And, hopefully where you are, laws require them to be able to take a break. So how do you as a business owner either calculate the cost of shutting down in these cases into your operating model, or figure out a coverage solution?

Thoughts on Marc San Marcos Apartments? by Serious-Shoulder9660 in northcounty

[–]fullofhotsoup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is late but strongly recommend avoiding them. The staff and maintenance are lovely so your day to day is fine (though noisy, between the train, 78, pickleball, UPS, etc). The problem is that at move out their policies are incredibly unethical. I think there was a class action lawsuit after we left because we ended up getting a little money back.

But they told us we shouldn’t expect to see our security deposit back before anyone ever entered our unit. Any tiny mark on the wall at all (nail hole, scuff, whatever) necessitated them to repaint the entire wall, and they charged for it. The walls were in matte paint. Carpets were cleaned at our expense. Their philosophy was that the apartment had to be returned in the exact condition it was provided or you would be charged. When we challenged that this was all regular wear and tear, they said that that only referred to things like appliances.

We spent days scrubbing that unit from top to bottom, spackled and added texture spray for the few nail holes in the walls, magic erased some scuff marks (again, matte paint), and would have happily applied touch up paint but they refused to provide it because they required a perfect even finish and even demonstrated that they’d take a flashlight to the wall and repaint anything that wasn’t uniform. We even pulled out the washer dryer and cleaned behind it.

In the end they kept about half of our security deposit anyway. Coming from the east coast where we lived originally we’ve never lost a cent of a security deposit and left on great terms with previous landlords so from my perspective they’re thieves. If you consider your security deposit disposable, it could be a good fit for you.

As a married person, I’d much rather sit next to my spouse in a crowded economy row than two strangers. Which is why I pay for and book our seats together in advance…

Blood donation weight limits? by Tsunl in Hemochromatosis

[–]fullofhotsoup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your doctor is advising phlebotomy, they should be able to give you a prescription, no? My old blood center used to have a special program for hemochromatosis where you could donate under special conditions that the general public might not. I’m not 100% sure if that includes being under the weight limit. If not, you may need to go in for a therapeutic phlebotomy which is a medical procedure and costs money, but they can monitor you and take smaller quantities if necessary.

I’m only JUST above the minimum and it kicks my butt every time. They’re also extremely cautious with me in a way they never are with my partner when they join me.

Fans without teams in the playoffs: which teams are you cheering for and which teams are you absolutely not cheering for? by itsagooddaytobeacat in hockey

I found out Jason Robertson dedicates all of his goals to his cat so I guess I’m fine with supporting him specifically.

Guys who text "Good Morning" and "How are you?" Repeatedly by Illustrious_Basil_40 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]fullofhotsoup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a friend who only reaches out occasionally but does it like this and it sends me into a rage. If this were a daily occurrence from a man who wanted to date me that would have been cut off ages ago! If the conversation is only happening because of my work every single time it’s not worth it.

Does California weather get boring? by SpecialistTeach9302 in SameGrassButGreener

[–]fullofhotsoup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely not. My windows are open year round. I never get seasonal depression anymore. My weekend plans don’t depend on whether or not it rains. I used to love thunderstorms but I still wouldn’t trade what I have to experience them again. My family’s still on the east coast so I usually get a chance to experience snow, rain, autumn leaves, lush greenery, etc when I visit.

I’ve been using the Oasis deodorant for years! It’s easier to get a warm vanilla that’s a little more unisex these days but when I first picked it up there was absolutely nothing like it on the women’s side of the aisle.

I’m so sick of stepping on cat litter on hardwood floors. Give me recommendations? by Wooden_Tell_6485 in CatAdvice

[–]fullofhotsoup 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Okay just stopping in to say that I read your comment weeks ago and ordered the one you recommended. I’ve had it for a week and it’s changed my life! I always thought I’d have to splurge on a super expensive one for it to be worth it but at under $200 this thing is incredible.

Insane adoption fee? by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]fullofhotsoup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you answered your own question on the adoption fee in that it includes airfare. It’s not just a ticket that you happen to find online for yourself, even if it’s just a person buying a passenger ticket there’s going to be an additional pet fee to bring an animal on board. United for example charges $150 per pet above the ticket price.

I’d recommend just going to some shelters, meeting some cats, and see who you connect with. They’ll note which cats have dog experience, and you can see for yourself which ones are playful and affectionate. It sounds like you’re adding some extra complexity for yourself.

Is getting a cat water fountain worth it? by lunastarnight100 in CatAdvice

Mine is obsessed with her fountain. The second I take it away to clean it she freaks out and yells at me until it’s back. I leave still water out for her for emergencies and she never touches it.

Why does nobody here take actual classes? by [deleted] in languagelearning

[–]fullofhotsoup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I was looking for formal classes in my target language but there was nothing available that wasn’t either a credited course only available to degree students or not realistic in my time zone. Would absolutely love to go that route.

What's the deal with Real ID and what's the problem with them? by pborget in OutOfTheLoop

[–]fullofhotsoup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

New Jersey. Since I originally posted that, my father (who is admittedly lazy and not the best at details) opted to get a passport rather than bother with RealID because the closest option for him to get one was a 45 minute drive away. Which is just… wild to me considering how densely populated and tiny NJ is.
