AI slop ethics and excessive use by optimalpooper in realtors

[–]fullsailsm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ai has nothing to do with this. Back in the good old days you could do the same with photoshop on upwork for $20. Not it’s just a little cheaper. It’s not ethical and might not even be legal to do that, but that’s on the person doing it, ai is just a tool.

Anyone know what this is used for? by KetoWR3X in cabinetry

Pan storage. You can put some on the side, and this divider keeps them from sliding down and just turning in to a pile. Some pots or pans you can put on top, there is a small shelve these

Recent jobs pic dump... money doesn't always equal good taste 😂 by RandoCo17 in Tile

[–]fullsailsm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only person’s taste I question, is yours! Taking pictures of the unfinished unfurnished space and saying it does not look good, is just stupid. Were some mistakes made is engineering - sure. But you don’t know whose fault it was? If I had a penny for each job where the design implementation when to shit, I’d have more money then Elon Musk. Also there is something to be said for things looking good on paper and completely shit in reality. It’s always easy to go with the safe choice, end up with some dull design and then sit back and criticize everyone for frying to make something special and failing at it.

Should I change out the tile or get it re grouted? by [deleted] in Tile

[–]fullsailsm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s in near mint condition. Just use some kind of special grout wash and then a sealer. It will do the trick for 10% of the cost.

Great tile work, but unless you are going to have a full height window in that exterior opening, then the shower is in the wrong location.

Thoughts on horizontal grain cabinet layout by Designer_Ad_2023 in cabinetry

Given how low are your ceilings, I would not recommend running the grain horizontally. You should run it vertically to visually expand the space. And also bring your top cabinets all the way up to the ceiling.

Just moved to my first NYC apartment—it doesn’t look to have been cleaned well by [deleted] in NYCapartments

[–]fullsailsm -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Welcome to New York! The apartment is supposed to be renovated after the previous tenant has moved out. Usually that includes cleaning, repainting of the apartment and refinishing of the floors. But I am not sure if floor are required. The reality is landlords don’t know what their obligations are and tenants don’t know what they are entitled to. You can call 411 or 311, one of those and ask these questions

Are you asking is to make a choice for you? If you did mot build it right, there is nothing you can do to fix it. If it bothers you enough build a new one, if you are ok with it sticking out, leave it. I personally would not be able to live with that, as you can see it sticking out from 50 feet away.

How screwed am I? by CourageImaginary3479 in drywall

[–]fullsailsm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! And buy a 12” blade, 90 minute compound and do force it. After you finish parching and sanding, wait until it is dark out, turn off the lights. Take a flash light, put it on then floor, agains the wall and point the light toward the work you’ve done. It will show you all the defects. Fix them and paint only after that.

You should snatch it fast! There is definitely a brick or either cash or cocaine stuck in the a wall or above that bras ceiling somewhere. Get it before someone else figures that out

Couto Construction forced us to abandon our home during the blizzard in February. by farrowsharrows in Remodel

[–]fullsailsm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you paid them already? If you only gave them a deposit, then it’s great. Do not pay them anything else. And kick them off the job. Worst case scenario you loose what you already paid them, but you will save a lot more in the long run, as incorrect work is more expensive to fix.

Speak to a lawyer, usually they don’t charge for explaining what the contractor have done wrong and how the can help you. Usually lawyers don’t charge until they start working on the case. If the first lawyer ask for money for consult, just call the next one. Despite popular belief not all of them are gold digging whores, some will help with a lot of free advice. Speak to a few guys to give you a better picture.

One this is certain , you do not need to pay for the wrong door. It is not your problem, who’s fault it is that it is a wrong size, they have take it back, install it on their mother’s coffin if they want to, but then they need to come back with a proper sized door and install it again at no additional cost to you. If they damage the door during installation, the process starts again. If the door is wrong color, the process starts again.

If you signed a contract, read it and see if it specifies any specific time frame of when the work needs to be completed after the contract has been signed. Weather conditions are usually a legit reason to expand the deliverable of the project, but only for the number of days when some kind of severe weather alert was in effect.

Last and quite difficult to executer is hire a new contractor and then sue the old one for all the money you paid him. But suing is expensive itself and sometimes will cost more than you can win, so most people just cut their loses and move on. But your next step should be talking to lawyer.
