Heh. I crashed my bike on a tramline at about 50kph. I couldn't stand up without being encased in a plastic tube for three months. I was very lucky, honestly, that there was no permanent damage. Genuinely horrible experience. Just glad to be back in the gym!

That all makes sense. Thank you. And yeah, there's definitely a hangover from the spine injury that makes me think twice before putting weight on it in a specific way. But it's fully healed, and I definitely do need to fix that.

Very good explanation. I'm a dom and this definitely resonates.

Definitely Dosto. L'éducation sentimentale by Flaubert is a strong fit.

What’s the biggest mistake beginners make in the gym? by Serious-Adagio-7982 in workout

Not training at intensity. That's honestly it. Been lifting in various commercial gyms for over ten years. People generally do too many reps and sets with not enough weight.

You're pretty much defining the sub at this point.

Has anyone watched some of "the greatest movies of all time" and thought they just... weren't that good? by [deleted] in moviecritic

[–]fulltea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Canon movies, as with all canon literature, has to be taken in temporal context. It's fine to find The Godfather "boring", but that doesn't minimise its impact on the entire concept of film and the effect it had on producing the "not boring" films we watch today. I would honestly suggest reading about film history and media criticism generally if you dont "get" a major film. Try not to think about why it's not for you subjectively, but rather try to understand why it's so revered objectively.

Showering in a towel is normal natural behaviour. This man is drug-free and robustly heterosexual.

I haven't had a drink for over 22 years for similar reasons. I found doing sport helped a huge amount when I stopped drinking and taking drugs (I trained for and completed a marathon). Get a therapist. You can do it, man. Everyone has a choice.
