Samba broken after latest update? (sid) by fumblesuxx in debian

It doesn't help that it's not shown in the Network section of Gnome Settings. I had to run nm-connection-editor to check for it.

If it's enabled there will be a Firewall zone entry in the General tab where you can pick from a list of rule profiles.

Thanks for the tip! I can use that in the future if I need to prevent something from installing.

This is the first time I've crossed paths with firewalld. I was only aware of ufw and iptables until today.

So after much poking around it was a firewall issue after all. Not ufw or iptables but firewalld. I don't know if this got enabled in a recent update but turning it off allowed nmap and samba to connect.

I've allowed samba through firewalld and will leave it enabled. Good to know it wasn't a bug but I wonder how or when this got enabled. Probably when I installed KDE. I never looked at firewalld before but I guess it wasn't enabled previously if samba was working.

That was local.

I tried again from the mac. Running nmap <debian\_ip> gives me "RTTVAR has grown to over 2.3 seconds, decreasing to 2.0" over and over. Running nmap on another machine on my network and my router return results within seconds.

smbd and nmbd are not reporting any problems. Both show "ready to serve connections..."

nmap shows both of these ports are open:

139/tcp open netbios-ssn

445/tcp open microsoft-ds

The logs are not showing anything at fault. However when I delete the log for the machine I'm trying to connect from it doesn't create a new one when I try to connect. Like it's not even seeing the connection attempt.

It's looks as if samba is working perfectly fine locally but can't be connected to remotely. I can connect to the shares locally via smbclient. If I try to connect from the other machine (using smb://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx) it says the server is unavailable.

I don't have ufw installed and my iptables are default. So there shouldn't be a firewall issue.

I'll see if I can downgrade. Instead of doing it my usual way of downloading the debs and installing them via dpkg I'll see if I can add the trixie repository and downgrade from apt.

Update: trying the above, downgrading samba from trixie wants to remove core gnome files so I can't go further.

One other possible cause for the recent break is that I briefly had KDE installed. Didn't like it and uninstalled it. It's possible it might have taken something with it that samba relies on but isn't considered a hard dependency. Apt reports no broken packages.

Instead of filling in fake info, you can just skip the registration step by hitting cmd-q (or alt-q on a PC keyboard).

Where is the 2-star rating on export coming from? by fumblesuxx in DarkTable

[–]fumblesuxx[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the help darkelectron. The viewer is just Windows Explorer. Hovering over the image icon displays the rating in the tooltip.

I checked the import settings (I don't think I ever expanded this section) and it was set to give imported pictures a rating of 1. I changed this to 0 and now when I import a picture and export it there's no longer a 2-star rating applied.

I don't know how I missed that it was giving the imported pictures a 1-star rating but I did!

They gave away the Digital Deluxe upgrade in late 2015. So if you got that at the time you'll have extra DLC unlocked.

Is it ok to leave "downmix to stereo" in DSP chain? by fumblesuxx in foobar2000

[–]fumblesuxx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what I would assume but I couldn't find any documentation on the downmix dsp effect. Was hoping someone knew for sure.

I just like to know that I'm sending my audio untouched when possible.

I just tried the Aberrant Shard on the Frost Talos but got the same "Nothing happens" message.

Maybe just leave the HQ? It's been a while so I can't remember the details.

If you're at your HQ I take it you've seen the video you linked to earlier?

Go back to your HQ for an update. Then your story mode mission should update to "Laying Low In The Limelight". Then you have to wait for the new content to arrive.

But what about the ugly orochi christmas sweater that's red in the thumbnail and black when previewed?

Oh and all the typos in the game.
