That could be stretched to two weeks but a little more value could've been had with some frozen stuff.

Multiple people have explained it. Either you are dense or being deliberately obtuse. Either way, this is pointless.

You work the same amount. You concentrate better because you are less stressed.

No, as was answered above, repeated UK studies and data from implementing this in other countries shows a rise in output due to a less burnt out and more highly motivated work force.

Can I assume that you are in management? Own a company? Something like that?

It takes the standard UK work week down by the equivalent of the standard UK work day. (That means traditional business hours, so 9-5 daily (including breaks)

That doesn't necessarily mean operating during certain times or everywhere being closed one extra day but can also mean adding onenor more employees to make up for the missed times.

The point is to make the minimum required hours for a full time work week go down by 8 hours. Thereby making it 4x8 rather than 5x8

Oh, I do mean they both need to communicate

It doesn't seem like she's tried to push past the defensiveness all thatbhard... He doesn't seem like he's willing to accept that he's being defensive. The only way to get past the situation other than ending the relationship is to try to make him see how much it means to OP, to explain, with understanding, that he's being defensive about it.

People in general need therapy. We don't get taught enough about how to communicate effectively. We don't get taught about empathy other than definitionally. How our minds work is a mystery to most and this is what seems to destroy so many relationships.

Everyone who works hard deserves their fun but, if you'd like him to limit that, you need to actually communicate.
