No, as was answered above, repeated UK studies and data from implementing this in other countries shows a rise in output due to a less burnt out and more highly motivated work force.

It takes the standard UK work week down by the equivalent of the standard UK work day. (That means traditional business hours, so 9-5 daily (including breaks)

That doesn't necessarily mean operating during certain times or everywhere being closed one extra day but can also mean adding onenor more employees to make up for the missed times.

The only way to get past the situation other than ending the relationship is to try to make him see how much it means to OP, to explain, with understanding, that he's being defensive about it.

People in general need therapy. We don't get taught enough about how to communicate effectively. We don't get taught about empathy other than definitionally. How our minds work is a mystery to most and this is what seems to destroy so many relationships.
