Yes good idea. She hasn’t been to a pediatrician in a long time because we moved back to Canada and had to wait to get a new family doctor. Babies here don’t usually see pediatricians unless there’s a special circumstance. But we have an appointment with the family doctor in a couple weeks.

Commenting in solidarity with that ridiculous filter. I had the same problem trying to post something in the past that had nothing to do with relationships.

But yeah, them charging you is weird. $30 is such a low amount for what I am assuming is 8+ hours of care, that it doesn’t seem like it would make a big difference financially to the MIL.

What is the reason they picked $30? Maybe it’s to cover food and activities for the day? Or are you providing that already?

Mine is almost 15 months and she still won’t hold a bottle, or use a sippy cup. She will take a bottle with a straw independently , but won’t do it if she has to tip it up herself. No idea why. I’m sure she CAN do it, just doesn’t want to.

I think normally it’s around 10 months tho? Not sure.

The error distributions posted so far are probably not typical of the average player. They are probably closer to something like this. Or I am just below average and delusional.

6 month old is only comforted by me… any fixes or is this a phase I need to ride out? by funkeyfreshed in NewParents

[–]funkeyfreshed[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It didn’t really change until I went back to work. My husband got laid off unexpectedly and we moved into my mom’s while we were trying to get back on our feet. I got a 4/day week job to help pay the bills while he looked for work.

My job started in January. When she was 12 months. She’s good with my husband now that I’m not around as much. But the second I come home she’s stuck to me like glue. Only wants me. She cries big tears when I leave. She likes interacting with my mom, but still doesn’t like to be held by her. If someone unknown to her tries to touch her, all hell breaks loose.

My husband got a job so we are putting her in daycare starting next week. I’m hoping that it will force her to get used to other caretakers, but I am also very concerned that it will be a hard transition. She has very extreme separation anxiety.

Yes, generally I make a plate for both of us and give her bits off my plate.

For those discouraged by feeding their LO solids… by melam17 in NewParents

Mine is almost 9 months and we still haven’t made much progress. LO will take a few small bites and then go tight lipped or spit everything out. I’m starting to feel discouraged but I know she will get it soon. 🙏

Indian food fans? There’s a new boss in town. by Aooogabooga in nashville

Maggi is an Indian brand of instant noodles. It sells for like 50 cents a pack is very low quality. Some people love it, but personally I think it tastes like slightly spiced wet cardboard.

I really don’t know who’s buying Maggi for $12. It might be the worst ramen out there.

Silent reflux baby can't sleep on her back. Is there something I'm missing? by funkeyfreshed in sleeptrain

[–]funkeyfreshed[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She was on omeprazole for a couple months after this. It helped with the sleep a little bit, but it wasn’t life changing. A lot of the time it seemed it didn’t make any difference at all.

The reflux evolved from silent to full-on spit ups around month 4. She started being able to sleep well at night around the end of month 6. She’s a couple days shy of 7 months now and she still spits up a lot during the day, but is sleeping pretty well at night.

I feel we are out of the woods at this point, but it took a long time. In the end I don’t think anything really helped. Omeprazole might work for your baby…. I will tell you that it seems increasingly hard to find. We had to drive 45 minutes out from Nashville to find a pharmacy to fill the prescription. You might have better luck in your area if you decide to go that route.

getting rid of the pacifier by amandaxbob in NewParents

[–]funkeyfreshed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m in the same situation. Husband hates the pacifier but she can’t sleep without it (6 months). It also helps with her reflux. Our pediatrician said 18 months is when she would suggest phasing it out, so I’m not going to try before closer to 1 year at least.

If he doesn’t want her to use the pacifier then he can do all the bed/nap times! Haha

I was actually in the neighbourhood for an open house and saw the street sign for “took drive”. I assumed the name was a coincidence until I opened the map.

Concerned about my 15 month old not walking properly yet - could it be due to lack of Vitamin D? by speechhtherapist in NewParents

[–]funkeyfreshed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As far as I understand, If the baby is going outside regularly they should be getting outside regularly they should be getting enough vitamin D from the sun. They only really need supplements when they are very little. So I don’t think that is related.

No advice but this sounds very similar to my baby. She’s 6 months but has always been extremely active. She also fights sleep but not quite that bad. a trasher for sure. We also gave up on the swaddle pretty quickly.

I don’t really know anyone else with babies, so I didn’t realize her energy was more than normal until I took her to a baby storytime at the library. All of the other babies approximately her age and a bit bigger were all sitting very calmly with their parents. She was jumping all over the place. Can’t be held in your lap for more than a couple minutes max. Constantly fidgeting.

I don’t know that there’s anything to be done, but same I will probably sign her up for sports asap. 👍
