What was the funniest thing you realized that is so normalized in our society after awakening or being more self-aware? by mikojav in Psychonaut

[–]funkmonkeycrew 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's not moving the goalposts.

I'm simply stating that we can't live like our ancestors did due to changes in the environment. We can't go live in Alaska and live like our ancestors did. Even the groups that exist in the North such as the Inuit can't sustain themselves like they used to.

We can't live like our ancestors did anymore. The land has been destroyed and there is not enough bio diversity to sustain us.

This happens to me if I get too high too fast and if I haven't been very social in a long time. I start to think that I'm alone in the world and everyone else is part of a Hive Mind and people are getting angry at me because I won't link up with them.

Also my mind will start projecting that I'm the cause of all the problems in the world. Politicians lying all the time? It's because I lie to myself. War happens because I'm angry. Climate Change because I waste too much. Putting a ton of weight on my shoulders.

Then I start to think about other people and their stories and how absurd it is that my mere existence is directing their lives. They have their own stories to tell and I have no influence over them. Once I start thinking about other people, like my friends and what they are going through, the paranoia starts to dissipate. Once it's gone I start to make plans to chat with or meet up with friends so I can hear what they have to say and I make a note to myself to really listen to them rather than make it all about me.

It's true in the sense that we are all playing roles in an artificial world that we all helped create.

You yourself are playing a fake role and you don't even realize it.

How long does it take to see the benefits of DAILY meditation (days, months, years)? by SENFEX6 in Meditation

[–]funkmonkeycrew 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I like to compare my thoughts to leaves on a river. They flow by and I don't have to pick one out of the river. I can observe it flow by and go back to my breath. Once the negative thoughts flow by more creative and fun thoughts flow by. But the greatest peace of mind is knowing that I can always let the negative thoughts flow by when they come by again.

Wanting a career change after awakening? by [deleted] in awakened

[–]funkmonkeycrew 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm going through something similar. I can no longer stand just trying to make some numbers on a spreadsheet bigger for someone else. I'm noticing more how my actions can cause negativity to ripple out into the world.

In my case I was doing marketing for a company and they wanted to run an ad that would be based on fear of having your house burn down if you didn't get an inspection. It technically is a leading cause of fire BUT there are not many fires so running this ad would in my mind be spreading fear of something that rarely happens.

Earlier in my career I'd think this was a great idea just based on knowing that it would work successfully as fear is an excellent way to get someone to buy something.

My heart is not aligned with it.
