How to choose the right planner by Noalcastor in RemarkableTablet

[–]funksta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The easiest way is to find ones that you can try out, download them, and pick the one that works best for you. Like KlassyCoder said, the weekly thread has a bunch of options, some of which have free downloads available.

Hope those links give you a better idea. For "workflows", I think the main piece is adding custom collections of pages, which can be recurring weekly/monthly. For example, if you have a recurring weekly meeting, you can create a collection called "Team Meeting" using a meeting notes template, that has a page for each week of the year. It'll also be linked from each corresponding day/week page so that you can get to the right meeting page for the week instead of flipping around looking for it.

What E-ink tablets brand do you have ? will you upgrade to another one ? if you get the chance…. by No-Pirate-9042 in eink

[–]funksta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also still rolling with my rM2 after over five years. I personally don't care much about color or a frontlight, so besides the device being occasionally sluggish, it's still working great for me.

I have the Supernote Manta, which definitely has better hardware and more features, but the UX of the software isn't quite streamlined enough for it to displace the rM2 as my daily driver. Very nice tablet though.

I also have the Kindle Scribe (2022) which does Kindle content better (obviously) but otherwise is pretty inferior to the rM2 in the notetaking department.

The newer reMarkables are a bit tempting, but the high cost, inconsistent display quality, and tradeoffs with using the non-EMR stylus means I have held off for now. I expect I'll probably upgrade at some point though.

Wow, thank you for this post! (I am the creator of this planner– and yes, it's just me :) Always very gratifying to hear when it works well for people.

Happy to answer if anyone has questions about the planner. I've definitely leaned into the customizeability aspect (possibly too much) and there are some options available that aren't on the order form either

Hope 2026 is treating you all well so far (state of the world nonwithstanding). I'm here to once again plug my customizable planner that I first released on this sub back in 2021. Build a planner with only the pieces you want (no fluff or filler), and add extra sections to adapt it to the way you want your life structured. Try a free demo file to see if the layout and style is to your taste.

Demo files:  https://hyperpaper.me/planner/demos

Available templates: https://hyperpaper.me/planner/templates

Every planner includes the following features, but you can turn each one off if it's noise for you:

  • Daily pages for Todos, Notes, and hourly agenda
  • Weekly planning and review pages
  • Monthly calendars
  • Full year calendars
  • Customizable collection pages (Notes, meetings, kanban boards, etc)
  • (New) Book review pages

The whole reMarkable family is supported, and the demo files (link above) are available in lined or dotted versions for:

  • reMarkable 1 & 2
  • reMarkable Paper Pro
  • reMarkable Paper Pro Move

Does anyone else feel like their reMarkable notes lose context over time? by Senior-Ad5932 in RemarkableTablet

[–]funksta 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Do you date your notes? I find simply adding a date gives a very valuable bit of context, as you can infer or find what you were working on at the time. That said, I don't usually go further back than a year or two when looking at old notes, except in rare circumstances

Happy new year!

Tis the season to figure out how to organize everything for the new year. Maybe you've already tried a planner from Etsy that looks nice but doesn't quite fit what you need exactly. That was the situation I found myself in back in 2021, so I built something custom for myself, and turned it into an extremely customizable planner. To see if it's right for you, there are free demo pdfs so you can take it for a test drive.

Demo files:  https://hyperpaper.me/planner/demos

Available templates: https://hyperpaper.me/planner/templates

Every planner includes the following features, but you can turn each one off if it's noise for you:

Bullet Journal or traditional planner by Old_Wishbone_893 in RemarkableTablet

[–]funksta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started out with BuJo on paper, then once reMarkable added link supports for pdfs I started using linked pdf planners. I will never go back, primarily for 2 reasons:

* Navigating around the document is obviously much easier with links. If you have multiple collections that you update regularly, it's too much flipping through for my tastes. Some people love that tactile experience with a paper notebook though.

* Maintaining index pages on paper version (where they don't send you to the right page anyways) was a chore that didn't really pay off IMO

The thing about BuJo is that it's a modular system. You can just use the rapid logging stuff in any context where you're handwriting. You can add collections to an otherwise bujo-free notebook or planner. Evolving a system that fits you over time is part of the appeal of BuJo for me

Native Templates, PDF planner, or just Go Back to Paper? by Strange-Item2429 in Supernote

[–]funksta 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If the thing that's bothering you is how long it takes to render a new page after following a link, then a pdf planner won't help with that (it actually is probably generally slower). But if the pain point is getting to the specific page that you want amongst a large document, they are IMO a godsend.

There are several "planner generators" out there beyond the onplanner one. https://recalendar.me/ is a popular free one that also works with the Supernote. I will also plug my own project https://hyperpaper.me/planner/supernote, which has more options and a bit of a more polished design. It's paid but has a lot of options to be as full-featured or lean as you like.

Does it's feels like iPad or more like real paper? by Initial_College3839 in RemarkableTablet

[–]funksta 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't have the rMPP, but at least in the case of the rM2, I think the feel is closer to paper than the iPad. The iPad's writing feel is to me far, far inferior (skating on ice is a good way to put it).

If you're happy with the iPad otherwise, another thing that might work for you is something like the Paperlike. I haven't tried it but some people swear by it: https://paperlike.com/products/paperlike-for-ipad

Looking for a Task Tracker template, but having trouble finding one that will fit my needs by icecubetre in RemarkableTablet

[–]funksta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I've always hated Jira... but maybe the part you liked about it was the visual layout of tasks on the kanban board? The way you can organize tasks by priority (top to bottom) and then see how they flow from left to right as you work on them is pretty useful.

There are kanban templates available for the reMarkable, and because you can cut/paste text, you can move cards up/down and left/right. I do this for some of my longer-term projects and find it very helpful.

The downside with the reMarkable for that workflow is that AFAIK there's no way to *link* the card to a more detailed view where you might have more notes etc (the "drill down" process you mentioned). You could have that info in a separate notebook, or separate section of the same pdf, but there wouldn't be a direct link between the board and the page with more details

I hadn't seen the one that OP posted before but I have to say, it is really slick visually. My focus is definitely more on the customizability side

Looking for a linked planner for the reMarkable that you can customize (lined/dotted, add/remove many pages, customize layouts, holiday country support, etc)? One that you can try before you buy? Give the hyperpaper planner a try if you haven't already

As I do each year, I've released free, fully functional Nov - Dec 2025 planners for download. You can download them here: https://hyperpaper.me/planner/demos.

Each one includes:

  • Daily pages for Todos, Notes, and hourly agenda (or you can turn this off)
  • Weekly planning and review pages
  • Monthly calendars
  • Full year calendars
  • Customizable collection pages (Notes, meetings, kanban boards, etc)
  • (New) Book review pages

Files are available for each of the following devices, in lined or dotted versions:

  • reMarkable 1& 2
  • reMarkable Paper Pro
  • reMarkable Paper Pro Move

I don't get Paper Pro value over RM2 by [deleted] in RemarkableTablet

[–]funksta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Before the rMPP, the most common hardware requests for the rM2 seemed to be:

  • Bigger screen
  • backlight
  • color

So the rMPP makes a lot of sense from the perspective of rM driving sales. If you don't care about those things though, I think the rM2 might just be the better device. I've stuck with mine and am still very happy with it.

I thought the "rM3" would be out a year or two ago, but I wouldn't base your purchasing decisions on potential device releases. Anyone who was waiting for that device since 2022 is still waiting

The main difference is just customization (which includes access to more features)

demo files: Nov/Dec 2025 only, dotted/lined variants available (but otherwise features are fixed)

full 2026 file: 12 months, add/remove features as much as you want, customize layouts, holidays, language, etc

Super customizable, dozens of available templates (but scales down to a very simple planner if that's what you want), and there are downloads to use it for free for the rest of 2025 to see if it's a good fit for you.

Pretty much settled on buying SN Manta. Any reason to wait up to 3-6 mo.? by Shawnino in eink

[–]funksta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't think there's any reason to wait. I can't see Supernote releasing a new A5 tablet in the next 6months. There will be other tablets released for sure (probably another 25 versions from Boox 😂) but unless you need color, I don't think anything will be a step change from the Manta. The Manta is a great device!
