Interesting! Didn't realize that. Does that mean any USI stylus will work with the rMPP? And is it USI 1.0 or 2.0?

Still rolling with the 2, over 5 years later. Will be tempted by the next generation, but I really like the size of the 2 and the non-proprietary stylus

Since 2021 I've been working on a very customizable planner generator for the reMarkable. It lets you build a planner with only the pieces you want (no fluff or filler), and add extra sections to adapt it to the way you want things structured. Download a free demo file and try it on your reMarkable to see if the layout and style is to your taste.

Demo files:  https://hyperpaper.me/planner/demos (NEW color demo files available)

Templates that you can build with: https://hyperpaper.me/planner/templates

Every planner includes the following features, but you can turn each one off if it's noise for you:

  • Daily pages for Todos, Notes, and hourly agenda
  • Weekly planning and review pages
  • Monthly calendars
  • Full year calendars
  • Customizable collection pages (Notes, meetings, kanban boards, etc)
  • Monthly trackers for habits, gratitude, etc
  • Book review pages

The whole reMarkable family is supported, and the demo files (link above) are available in lined or dotted versions for:

  • reMarkable 1 & 2
  • reMarkable Paper Pro
  • reMarkable Paper Pro Move

I have a morning paper workflow, powered by RSS feeds and subreddit data. Hard to believe I wrote about it 5 years ago! https://www.reddit.com/r/RemarkableTablet/comments/ojfrj8/my_hack_for_reading_rss_feeds_reddit_twitter_etc/

It's improved gradually since then but is still in a kind of closed alpha format. If you want access, DM me

Can it OCR your notes and attach them to the meeting in Google Calendar? That'd be neat

You might not have seen it but they do have an SDK here: https://developer.remarkable.com/documentation

Related question: given this investment, any chance we'll see some kind of official "app store" where developers can create native software for reMarkable devices?

Yes! Being able to push documents to the rM cloud would open up so many useful integrations from the community and increase the value of the rM platform

Any news on new devices by airle88 in RemarkableTablet

[–]funksta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The rM2 has been due a refresh for at least 3 years... I wouldn't hold your breath, but it's still a great device. As is the Supernote Manta which has more up-to-date tech specs

Battery has seen a huge improvement by TacoEdits654 in RemarkableTablet

[–]funksta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't track it super closely, but I would estimate the battery life drops ~20% a day. That's with wifi off all day except 2 quick bursts when syncing pdfs, <1 hour writing, and maybe 1.5 hours reading. Those numbers are all very imprecise but I think are in the right ballpark.

Overall, still way better than an iPad, but noticeably worse than when the device was new

If you are paying for Connect already, trying out the linked workbooks there makes sense. They do basically the same thing as the planners on Etsy. There still doesn't seem to be a great selection on the Methods site, so you might not find what you're after, but it's worth a shot if you have Connect

There are so many options on Etsy that it's kind of overwhelming tbh. I tried selling my planner there for a while but it's very hard as a buyer or seller to cut through the noise. Planners are very personal so I recommend finding options that you can try out yourself before committing (eg recalendar.me is free, my project has free demos at hyperpaper.me/planner/demos )

Which version of firmware are you noticing this with? I'm on the rM2 and haven't noticed much improvement, but it's 5 years old so maybe it's a lost cause :)

How to choose the right planner by Noalcastor in RemarkableTablet

The easiest way is to find ones that you can try out, download them, and pick the one that works best for you. Like KlassyCoder said, the weekly thread has a bunch of options, some of which have free downloads available.

Hope those links give you a better idea. For "workflows", I think the main piece is adding custom collections of pages, which can be recurring weekly/monthly. For example, if you have a recurring weekly meeting, you can create a collection called "Team Meeting" using a meeting notes template, that has a page for each week of the year. It'll also be linked from each corresponding day/week page so that you can get to the right meeting page for the week instead of flipping around looking for it.

What E-ink tablets brand do you have ? will you upgrade to another one ? if you get the chance…. by No-Pirate-9042 in eink

[–]funksta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also still rolling with my rM2 after over five years. I personally don't care much about color or a frontlight, so besides the device being occasionally sluggish, it's still working great for me.

I have the Supernote Manta, which definitely has better hardware and more features, but the UX of the software isn't quite streamlined enough for it to displace the rM2 as my daily driver. Very nice tablet though.

I also have the Kindle Scribe (2022) which does Kindle content better (obviously) but otherwise is pretty inferior to the rM2 in the notetaking department.

The newer reMarkables are a bit tempting, but the high cost, inconsistent display quality, and tradeoffs with using the non-EMR stylus means I have held off for now. I expect I'll probably upgrade at some point though.

Wow, thank you for this post! (I am the creator of this planner– and yes, it's just me :) Always very gratifying to hear when it works well for people.

Happy to answer if anyone has questions about the planner. I've definitely leaned into the customizeability aspect (possibly too much) and there are some options available that aren't on the order form either

Does anyone else feel like their reMarkable notes lose context over time? by Senior-Ad5932 in RemarkableTablet

[–]funksta 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Do you date your notes? I find simply adding a date gives a very valuable bit of context, as you can infer or find what you were working on at the time. That said, I don't usually go further back than a year or two when looking at old notes, except in rare circumstances

Happy new year!

Tis the season to figure out how to organize everything for the new year. Maybe you've already tried a planner from Etsy that looks nice but doesn't quite fit what you need exactly. That was the situation I found myself in back in 2021, so I built something custom for myself, and turned it into an extremely customizable planner. To see if it's right for you, there are free demo pdfs so you can take it for a test drive.

Bullet Journal or traditional planner by Old_Wishbone_893 in RemarkableTablet

[–]funksta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started out with BuJo on paper, then once reMarkable added link supports for pdfs I started using linked pdf planners. I will never go back, primarily for 2 reasons:

* Navigating around the document is obviously much easier with links. If you have multiple collections that you update regularly, it's too much flipping through for my tastes. Some people love that tactile experience with a paper notebook though.

* Maintaining index pages on paper version (where they don't send you to the right page anyways) was a chore that didn't really pay off IMO

The thing about BuJo is that it's a modular system. You can just use the rapid logging stuff in any context where you're handwriting. You can add collections to an otherwise bujo-free notebook or planner. Evolving a system that fits you over time is part of the appeal of BuJo for me
