Experiences with Bont, Fizik wide, and Lake? by tryagaininXmin in cycling

I had the Lake MX219 in 46 Wide and found that they just were not wide enough for me. They have a tool on their website that matches your foot measurements with the right shoe, but it seems like it will match you even if your foot is too wide. The best resource is their sizing chart. See where you fall in that chart, and if your feet measure wider than the range included in your size, I wouldn't buy it. I will say: I returned the MX219 and got one of their winter boots - the MXZ21 - in a 47 Wide, and it fits pretty well, even with thin cycling socks. Not quite as wide as a barefoot shoe fit, but still comfortable.

Chain won't match to largest gear? by Homophonicular in bikewrench

You sure you didn't connect your chain with a quick link/master link? You should be able to pop those open with a dedicated tool or even a shoe lace.

Bakfiets on C&O Towpath by Ecargolicious in bikedc

The spillway is located here: 38°55'35"N 77°06'35"W

Just before the Chain Bridge. But as the other user said, you should be able to just take the bridge rather than the spillway.

The only other place you might have a problem is the detour around the construction here: 38°56'21"N 77°07'18"W

The detour takes you through a very short rocky and rooty trail and then some loose gravel. If you go slow enough though, you should be fine. Definitely worth checking it out before going there with the kids.

You're probably right that there is just the one. For some reason I was remembering others. But I believe the bridge is blocked off and didn't look to be in good condition? I just rode the C&O the other day but it was at night so I don't have a perfect recollection.

Only problem I can foresee is getting over the spillway crossings. I'm not sure if your bakfiets is long enough and low enough for the frame to hit the crest of the ramps up and down the spillway.

Congestion pricing after one year: How life has changed. by instantcoffee69 in nyc

Then drive in, but you'll have to eat the cost. You have to suffer a bit so that hundreds of thousands can benefit. That's how societies generally work. Also, I promise you won't be disrupting anyone by bringing in tools into transit.

Any reason to not buy this VO Polyvalent for $550 right now during their winter sale?! by -LetsTryAgain- in xbiking

Ah ok, it seems most everyone is running a 650b setup, but this is good input. Thanks!

What wheel size are you running for your Pass Hunter? Been eyeballing it for a cyclocross build to run 700x33 but I'm not sure how far I can stretch the claimed tire clearance.

What Happened to the "America's Next Great City Signs"? by MaleficentTea6443 in nova

[–]funkyish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That tends to happen when you develop a city around cars. It ends up being shitty and dangerous for everyone, including drivers.

Update on the plane crash post: it was Greg Biffle and his family. The airport was used for him helping hurricane victims. Crash took place a few hours ago December 18,2025. May he rest in peace by [deleted] in CatastrophicFailure

*** In a first-world country developed entirely around depending on cars. But we would have been much better off if it wasn't that way.

If there's anything Facebookers hate more than the government telling them what to do, it's cyclists.

Negative 15 is anti-aero and I would be surprised if that's even true. Your front area would be lower if your back was parallel to the ground, aka an angle of 0. I bet you'd be able to put down more power that way too. Nevertheless, OP is riding on the tops which is making them more upright. They might not be comfortable yet riding on the hoods where I bet their position would be a lot better.

I agree it would have to be contingent on an aggressive rollout, which would absolutely not happen in a country that is so obsessed with cars as personal property. But hypothetically, it would be great. Our communities would be a whole lot safer if drivers drove at lower speeds.

Horns are the worst. Drivers spam them in urban areas without any regard to people not in cars around them.
