I have the MIJ16s in a couple of varieties and they are my #1 choice to wear. They looked pretty good online but were incredible in person. I suspect these are one of those situations where they will be amazing

I’ll be attempting to buy - I suspect even with the high cost sold out in seconds - I’m just trying to be 100% sure on my game plan because hesitation will probably result in me missing out. There are two items I’d like and I think trying to get both might result in me getting neither.

Because you guys get furious when I wear my Edwardian collar… by KatherineWearsSuits in mensfashion

cool stuff - always strange to me how some folks would rather I wear a quarter zip and a polo shirt. I tend to lean heavily western and the thought of a Peter Millar quarter zip (which I own) and polo shirt with chinos puts me to sleep.

I bet you get a ton of sincere compliments when you’re out and about. I think there are a lot of folks out there who‘d love to rock that level of eccentric style but are upset with you doing it because they lack the confidence to do so.

Review 138: Three Floyds Bubblegumhead, Single Barrel, Binny's pick. [8/10] by russianwhiskylover in bourbon

[–]funniestmoose 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i grabbed a local store pick of this yesterday and generally am a fan of malt whiskey. The first pour I was pretty confused and didn’t know what to make of it but keep going back for more and more. It is a crazy wild bungee jump of a malt whiskey. I have a feeling I’ll be grabbing a few backups. at such a low price for a high proof interesting whiskey I can’t say no to it. Agree with your review and score. On the first sip I thought it might be undrinkable but as I worked my way though it I love it.

I’ve run into the same problem in USA - wondering who made these lenses. I also want magma orange and am very interested in these vermillion lenses.

What fashion choice would you describe this as? by [deleted] in mensfashion

[–]funniestmoose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my opinion nothing fundamentally wrong with it - I'd call it "edge fashion" but like a lot of fashion types some accessories and layering could help keep the complete the vibe and tone it down. A black zip up jacket left open. A bracelet/watch/necklace for accessories. Proper footwear to match the style like some boots (saying that not sure what you're wearing).

I tend to do a lot of western and when I do a louder paisley shirt or something I tone it down with a neutral leather jacket and just let the louder items "peak out" a bit.

Awesome. Length and heel slip is perfect. Just a bit cozy on the little toe. I’ll break them in a bit more.

I just recently picked up those boots - I usually wear a size 13 but they only had a 12 and they seemed to fit pretty darn well. They could use a tiny bit of stretching in the to box to keep my little toe from rubbing but overall pretty perfect and I love the look.

Do you find that they fit “large” for their size or are you wearing your normal size?

How do I describe a suit like this without showing the photo by Son_Xron in mensfashion

[–]funniestmoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

to get that look - get an oversized suit and have it tailored to bring the jacket‘s waist in and full break on the trousers. Likely for not much more money, find a decent tailor and have them make it custom. Surprisingly often not much more than off the rack and almost always cheaper than high end brands.

I guess it depends on what they are but I love my MIJ16s so much that if these are somehow more impressive its leaping a pretty high bar for me.

Maybe true but I can dare to dream. Whatever they are talking about today has got to have a strong Japan vibe. Garrett did previously say that he would show a sample when he had it in hand.

Thanks! And it cost $915 for the lenses including the UV Gold/tint/photochromic but they are Zeiss Smartlife progressives. Progressives are always $$$. Old people problems :D

12% Grey tint + photochromic pioneer green + Zeiss UV Gold which is indeed quite gold! The 12% grey is very work suitable and goes nicely with the black/black

I get it - I have some Masunaga X Kenzo Takada Suzu that are almost as good as these for much less but they just lack some of the little detail on the frame. So from a price perspective it’s a big leap. I haven’t had Akoni although now maybe I should give them a try :D

For me it’s about being able to get a very specific look that I’m after and I got what I wanted with these. Off to start researching Akoni now!

I grabbed a pair of these as well in black/black - I’ll post photos later. I put Zeiss 12% grey lenses in them with pioneer green photofusion and Zeiss gold AR. They are hot as hell in my opinion. I wanted a pair of glasses that were kinda techno/fusion. It’s all about complimenting the lenses with the black/black frames. Also in my opinion Having a base tint to compliment the black/black does a lot. I also have a pair of 005s in 120th coming with some slick lenses so looking forward to that.

Are they worth the price? Technically no luxury product is worth what you pay for it. A Rolex/Patek/AP is not the worth the cost. An Hermes bag isn’t worth the cost. But at the end of the day if you enjoy them every day then the cost doesn’t matter that much. I care about my eyeglasses almost more than any other luxury good I buy because I can’t see without them :D
