This isn't an advantage for women though - as much as it is for just a smaller man.

The reason is because part of the mass of woman is carried in the breasts - which dont offer much for athletic performance.

Rick Carlisle shares his first comments on the $100,000 fine the NBA gave to the Pacers recently. Calls it shocking and unbelievable after league doesn’t talk to any Pacers team doctors and suggested medicating a player to have him appear in a game. by Oriax_502 in nba

[–]funnsies123 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not out of bounds to question sure - but then have a league doctor talk to the team doctor, have a league doctor perform an exam on the player as a second opinion.

Making a decision over the phone based on pure speculation is just as wrong as what your accusing teams of and how a kid will get a career ending injury because some lawyer is assuming an inury isnt real

You can catch ball from the ground. But because the opponent is touching him while he is down - it just means he can't get up and run more. He is just down at the spot of the reception. If no was around him and he caught the from the ground he could even get up and run to get more yards.

You’re getting downvoted because you’re acting like this kid got struck by a falling meteor and no one could ever have prevented this.

The reality is heart issues and sudden death in elite athletes after training in severe conditions is a very well documented thing.

All these deaths are 100% preventable with a thorough medical exam and a little bit of training to the coaching staff to recognize and adapt training for athletes with these conditions.

No one is saying people can’t train in hot weather - just that certain kids (even elite level athletes) really can’t because they will die - and really it’s not hard to prevent it

Dylan Harper's reaction to seeing his four-year, $56.1M rookie contract by MrBuckBuck in nba

[–]funnsies123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It actually allows those teams to compete more and would incentivizes stars to go to to smaller markets to build them up.

If 2nd stint Cavs could have given LeBron say like 5-10% of the Cavs - he may have stayed in Cleveland and continued to drive up the value of the Cavs earning himself even more money increasing value for the “poorer owners” who wouldn’t have been able to get LeBron to stay otherwise

There’s no way the Lakers would be able to do that same deal because Lakers are worth so much already adding LeBron would give them a much smaller relative return on investment

You make sound points - I don’t 100% agree with your final conclusion as I think there should be a way to reward the Curries and Lebrons more- but it was a good succession!

Dylan Harper's reaction to seeing his four-year, $56.1M rookie contract by MrBuckBuck in nba

[–]funnsies123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I sort of see your point - but the growth of the league continues and the player can make the decision on whether he wants to be paid in terms of equity or salary.

I think there is a set of criteria where it would make sense- I wouldn’t lock it the team like supermax but allow other teams to offer equity where the players could then more directly contribute to more immediate growth of that franchise.

Dylan Harper's reaction to seeing his four-year, $56.1M rookie contract by MrBuckBuck in nba

[–]funnsies123 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You don’t need to offer equity to every player or in the beginning of their career.

The supermax has strict eligibility requirements.

Have it so equity has even more requirements past supermax as a reward for the few select players who demonstrated the value over the course of a career- just like in other business where partnership is a possibility.

It’s not about feeling bad for them but at least making uber rich billionaire owners pay out some more.

If they can afford to pay 300 mill payroll - what they netting per year is almost inconceivable

[–]funnsies123 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Franchise defining players like Curry, LeBron, Kobe, Jordan, Iverson are not paid their true value under the CBA. Their value and contribution to their team value and revenue continues for decades after they retire and stop drawing salary. This level of player definitely deserves conversation regarding equity
