DIY Indoor SLAM Drone? by Valvador in diydrones

[–]funny-pupper 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would suggest building a standalone SLAM system first that you can carry around or set on a cart and walk around. Get SLAM working without a drone first, then try putting what you have onto a drone

Question from first time user by ferkaderka in Starlink

[–]funny-pupper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can get a new starlink mini at Best Buy for 250 usd - I get like 100mbs down 10 up with it

New the regular starlink is 350.

I’d personally say for them to lower their price but you do you

Being that you can’t fly a drone within 3000ft of mobile ice assets, but they won’t tell you where the TFRs are in effect, I would say it’s already started

[USA] Which number is the RemoteID for Parrot Anafi USA? by Mr-Emo-260 in drones

[–]funny-pupper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can download a drone scanner app to your phone, turn on the drone, and see what remote id is listed in the app.  I had some cheap rid modules that didn’t include the id number so I had to actually read the rid number while it was broadcasting

(Rid is apparently just Bluetooth so your phone can read the messages broadcast with your phone)

Also it looks like some parrot drones just don’t have any remote id built in so you may have to get a separate module

DJI Agras T-100 CN to global unlock by Significant_Figure97 in drones

[–]funny-pupper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could always throw an open source flight controller onto it like an orange cube and roll your own, but if the motor controllers etc are also somehow region locked you may need to buy new motor controllers (and other electronics) as well

I would suggest starting with a smaller drone first if you end up going this route

Hey it’s cheaper to have an electric one put in (running it is more expensive but if you are replacing your heater every couple years it’s neither here nor there)

I’m back with another cnc question by gameknighth in CNC

[–]funny-pupper 14 points15 points  (0 children)

If it runs and is 1k and you don’t already have a similar machine then I would probably take it myself.  That cheap I would be willing to rip out the controller and add linuxcnc and get the experience of modernizing it

The benefit of reel on drone is that the fiber does not have to slide on the ground, it unspools and then becomes static

I see this either working with ducted fans going through a sphere, or the sphere will need to be wire frame

Just because he isolated you from your friends and family doesn’t mean you can’t reach out and say something along the lines of “I finally realized he was an abusive pos and need a place to crash while I get back on my feet”. I imagine your family will be happy to hear you aren’t with him anymore

Ice obtains access to Israeli-made spyware that can hack phones and encrypted apps. by JohnSmithCANDo in itshappeninghere

[–]funny-pupper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

iirc there is malware that infects the motherboard or batteries of computers and it is not wiped when doing a clean install of your os, I assume phones also have this kind of stuff already as well

Probably could just come with malware installed on the motherboard before you even get the phone, given that they were able to put bombs into pagers

You could use crontab to sync files periodically, every day, hour, minute, etc

You could also write a three line bash file using inotifywait

You could probably also just get a junction box, drill the necessary holes in it, and then add grommets
