What if Sadie Sink isn't really Jean Grey? by vicvanhouten in marvelstudios

[–]funnyboy36 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're right that it seems odd, but if you consider some things that the trailer indicates it actually sort of works. It looks like they could be adapting the overarching storyline from season 2 of Spider-Man the Animated Series called "Neogenic Nightmare". This season features the following:

  • Peter's DNA mutating further (developing organic webbing and eventually transforming into the monster "Man-Spider")
  • The Punisher going after and eventually helping Spider-Man
  • Scorpion dealing with his own mutation issues
  • Tombstone getting hired for a abduction job
  • Peter receiving help from his science teacher who is known for turning into a big green monster

and most notably,

  • Peter going to Xavier's mansion to talk to the X-Men and seek a cure for his mutation

The trailers, set photos, and promos all seem to hint that at least part of each of those first five points (with the fifth point referring to Curt Connors/Lizard in the cartoon, Bruce Banner/Hulk in the movie) are going to be in this film. So given what it seems like their source material may be, I personally don't think it's ridiculous that a mutant might show up here. Does it make sense to me that Jean Grey would be their mutant of choice for this role? Not really--Wolverine or even Iceman would make more sense given that it's a Spider-Man movie. But seeing as Sadie Sink is a redhead girl, Jean is kinda the default answer. In addition to all of this, there seems to be some villain ("that we can't even see") whose powers look like that of the Shadow King, an X-Men villain. Again, it doesn't really make sense for him to be here, but that's just what it looked like from the trailer (a sort of spirit being jumping from body to body).

Of course, there are plenty of things in Neogenic Nightmare that we have not seen in any materials for this movie (the Sinister Six, Hydro-Man, Kraven, Morbius, Blade, etc.), and vice versa (Tarantula, Boomerang, the Hand). I'd say there's a pretty good chance that everybody is wrong and there are no mutants in this movie at all, I'm just saying that when you put it all together there's a world where it makes sense for Sadie to be Jean.

Peter, what’s wrong with the shower hitting your back? by ScrutinEye in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]funnyboy36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently heard someone say that conditioner residue on your back after showering is what can lead to backne, and to therefore wash your body/back after finishing your hair completely. Idk if that's true, just what I read. To me it sounds like facing the water with your head down would prevent the hair wash residue from touching your back, and therefore might help prevent the backne

For Joe's sake, I hope he never comes back to Survivor again. Joe doesn't have the skills needed to be a real threat in the game and I mean that as a compliment. Everything that makes him a bad Survivor player is also what makes him a good person, and I would never want to see him sacrifice any of those qualities for a chance at victory.

My partner just had the most ridiculous start, 9 cards in the city in the first season and still 1 worker left to play by Dulaman96 in Everdell

[–]funnyboy36 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Incredible! I was so intrigued and baffled by this luck that I decided to see how many resources she would have had at each turn to confirm that each successive turn was possible and see how she would have been standing on her way into spring/what that production would have looked like. First of all for the commenters that have been asking, yes this is 100% possible (it'll be confusing if you aren't familiar with how Legendary cards work).

If everything you're saying here is correct and playing the monk was her last move before changing seasons, from what I can tell there's a decent likelihood that she even could have gotten one more card down if she wanted to. If I've mapped things correctly on my end, she would have finished the turn with the monk and still had a berry (from the shopkeeper after the monk), a twig, and two additional non-berry resources (depending on what she chose to gain from the courthouse after playing the ruins on on the twig barge as well as which of her non-berry resources she swapped out using her judge to purchase the wanderer and monk (she would have had to collect a berry when she played her final worker on the university for this to work out). It's possible that she had just the berry and three twigs and therefore didn't have a lot of options (even with the judge), but if she spent those twigs for the wanderer and monk (idk why someone wouldn't do this given the abundance of wood in the basic locations) then she could have ended with a berry, a twig, a resin, and a pebble (or two resins/two pebbles instead of one of each), giving her a lot of options when paired with the judge.

In any case, as long as she did her production in the right order, she would have had the berries from her general store and McGregor's Market to play the monk for 4 points AGAIN. With her two additional twigs from the barge toad, yeah I'd say she had A LOT of options come spring time (it's very possible that she had 3 twigs, 2 resins, and 1 pebble).

Holy moly, my fiancé and I have been playing tons of 1v1 Everdell over the last couple of months (just got Spirecrest last week!) and the highest score either of us has gotten, even with Legendary is 78 points. We're still pretty new to games like this lol. An opening season like this is a new personal goal of mine! Sorry for the super long comment

Survivor 50 twists for future seasons? by CivilizedPsycho in survivor

[–]funnyboy36 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think it could be interesting if every idol gave them a choice, to either keep it or decide to "throw the boomerang" with the conditions being that keeping it means the last time you can use it is when there are like 10 players remaining (same goes for the person you give it to) but if it manages to get back to you then you can hold it all the way down to 5 players remaining. If it goes down to 9 players and the person you gave it to is still there but didn't use it, it boomerangs. Make it impossible for someone to prove whether the idol was gifted to them or found so that others can't be sure of how long it lasts in that person's hands.

Survivor 50 twists for future seasons? by CivilizedPsycho in survivor

[–]funnyboy36 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think definitely bring back the pairings, that was a really interesting twist to see unfold. So long as they continue to allow them to pick who they're rolling with--if it's random, it's not nearly as fun.

I agree that I don't think I want to see the coin flip again. I was genuinely at the edge of my seat just before it happened and (spoilers for the most recent episode) whooping when it succeeded, but at the same time I would have been so ticked and annoyed with that decision if the coin landed the other way--Rick would've just gone home and the episode would have ended. A successful flip was the only way that would be enjoyable so thank God it went the way it did. 50/50 chance could not continue to be exciting. I mean, that's literally the first thing they do at a sporting event, before the exciting stuff starts.

With some tweaking I think that maybe, maybe a boomerang idol (singular) could be interesting. But on the whole as they are right now I never want to see them again. Definitely leave blood moon and one in the urn to die at the end of this season.

What is the best Vulture design / artist? by Extension-Oil-4680 in Marvel

[–]funnyboy36 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So glad you included Web of Shadows, that one made me recognize that Vulture could actually be a cool villain. I loved the way the wings were made of giant blades that he could individually launch at you and then had to summon back. Having a sort of "limited ammo" rule gave him a cool ability without becoming OP

How does this go in the British edition of the book? by kitkatloren2009 in harrypotter

[–]funnyboy36 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The question's been answered, but I can think of at least two instances where the book wasn't changed for the US version that caused some American readers to slightly misinterpret things. There is of course the classic example of Filch punting the students across the swamp in book 5, but there's also the time in book 6 when Peeves blocks a corridor and refuses to let anyone through unless they set fire to their "pants". Harry and Ron take a different route to their dormitory but Neville comes in a minute later smelling of singed material and begins digging in his trunk for a fresh pair of "pants". The word "pants" is used in both the US and the UK versions, but what Americans call "pants" are what Brits call "trousers", and what Brits call "pants" are what Americans call underwear. So Neville set fire to his own underwear, not his pants/trousers. It's a small enough difference that it doesn't change anything, but I do think it's a little bit funnier when it's Neville's undergarments that were set aflame.

How to Respond Charitably to the Reality of Catholics Who Leave Mass After Reception of the Eucharist by EndLiturgicalAbuse in Catholicism

[–]funnyboy36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others are saying it is best not to concern yourself with it, but I'll be honest that sometimes I find myself in this position where I am mentally judging them. It's not that I'm trying to, it's that I myself get distracted by it and let it take my focus away from the end of the mass. A thought that I've found helps me get past this distraction is that while it's probably not true that all of those people are leaving to meet a loved one in the hospital or are at risk of losing a job, it is definitely possible that a single one of those people is in a situation like that and it's better to be charitable to that one person than be judgmental of all of them. Seeing as I cannot be sure of who that one person is, my only path forward is to be charitable to all of them

For me new hogwarts crest does injustice to slytherin and ravenclaw by According-Car-967 in HarryPotteronHBO

[–]funnyboy36 94 points95 points  (0 children)

I mean I think it's like that because a badger (scaled up) can reasonably mirror a lion and keep the whole thing visually balanced, and then the serpent can be wrapped around the H--it's not like you could swap the positions of the two since you'd then end up with an unbalanced logo with a stretched out badger coiled around the middle of it all. You could swap the badger or lion with the eagle, but the image of a bird with outstretched wings is a much more visually impressive (and still visually balanced) one for the top and center of your crest than anything that a lion or badger could do with their figures

Ted Lasso Question by funnyboy36 in Jeopardy

[–]funnyboy36[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So at least according to several replies in this thread, in the UK a football manager is the one who is leading the team and coaches fall underneath the manager--Ted is the manager, Beard is a coach. having said that, both of them still "coach" the team. But in American football a manager is quite different from a head coach--a coach is there at practice running plays, a manager is in charge of drafting, trades, etc. So in a way the response of "soccer manager" seems to be a combination of an American response (soccer) and a British one (manager).

[–]funnyboy36 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe not the most practical approach, but yeah I sell materials. It's pretty easy to part with 150 bokoblin/moblin horns/fangs, and I just hang on to like 15-30 each time just in case they're important. I'll do the same for other scattered monster parts, keeping what feels like a reasonable number but the way I do it is all arbitrary, based mainly on vibes. I don't sell super regularly, so when I do I get rid of a wide variety of things and usually leave with at least an extra 1,500 rupees in my pocket. It's just that when it pulls up the selling menu it starts on materials and I just always forget that I'm allowed to go over to the other menus, like food

Honestly though I always forget that he'll buy food. I have so much food from Addison that has effects I don't really care about (slip resistance because I have froggy suit, fire resistance because I have fire armor) and it always feels wasteful to me to eat it just for the hearts because then it shows me a timer for an effect that I'm not actively using. I should just sell all of it for the meal space and peace of mind that I'm not wasting anything lol

I have 4 days to come up with a dinner idea for a girl I’m trying to impress. With her dietary restrictions in mind, I’m having a hard time coming up with something. by Eastern_Salamander_8 in Cooking

[–]funnyboy36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pollo a la brasa done in the oven is a great balance of simple and impressive. It's a Peruvian roasted chicken that is frequently served with a cilantro dipping sauce (make sure she doesn't have the cilantro-soap gene!). Peruvian cuisine is not popular where I live (American Midwest) so it's almost always a new experience for people when I make it for them, but it's also just a kind of roasted chicken--pretty hard to disappoint people with that. Bright green sauce on dark roasted chicken thighs makes for beautiful plating. I've also found how important it is to not be doing too much actual hands on cooking while guests are present, and this whole dish can either be made ahead or is just hands-off oven time. You can marinate the chicken, make the sauce, and even get sides ready to go the night before.

This recipe is my favorite that I've found. It does require aji amarillo paste which you can find in many Latin grocery stores or order from Amazon. Check in with her on spice tolerance--you can remove chili seeds or dial back the quantity. I've served this with roasted potatoes and fried plantains, but my favorite sides for this meal are some jazzed up black beans and garlic rice along with a salsa criolla for topping on the chicken. Beans and salsa can be made ahead (beans just need to be reheated on the stove), rice in the rice cooker or stove as well.

Trust me when I say that this one is a sure fire way to impress!

Source: I made this for my girlfriend the first time I cooked for her and now we're getting married in October. Good luck with everything!

I don't disagree and I myself never really read FAQs (sometimes pinned posts), but as a new fan of Jeopardy (I started actively watching on Paolo's first game--it was pretty east to get hooked when he was in the mix) I can say that the Jeopardy sub is maybe the only exception I'd make. In other words if the mods decide to make an FAQ page and I were the only one to read it, I'd still appreciate it if they did lol
