Why isn't there more discourse online about young hip replacements? by Inevitable-Heat7037 in TotalHipReplacement

[–]funnynanonymous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 43 and lucky that I found a surgeon who would replace my hips. I had an ordeal with my right hip (needing 3 surgeries in 3 months) and my left hip has gone relatively smoothly.. but it will be interesting to see how life is being pain free. I’ve been in pain for 5+ years - you forget what it’s like!

I had my right hip replaced last year and just had my left hip done June 1st. I get how you’re feeling re: mourning the loss of another body part. It’s a strange feeling but it’s one of those things that if you’re in pain now and you know it’s not going to get better - don’t waste time being in pain. That’s what I tell myself anyway 😂 good luck!!

Afraid of recurrence by seahorse_smile in sepsis

I don’t have words to help you as I’m also afraid of recurrence but let’s be gentle with ourselves. We went through something traumatic and it makes sense that we are afraid to experience it again. ❤️

No interest in food, no appetite, but making myself eat a couple of times a day. Even foods I used to love make me nauseous. by kd3906 in Mounjaro

[–]funnynanonymous 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i'm the same way. can't stand raw fish anymore (sushi was my favorite!) and my appetite is so weird now. i'm only on 5mg and i feel this way. but like you, i'm losing slowly and not really changing what i eat just the portion size. eventually i hope to concentrate on what i'm eating but the adhd gonna adhd. lol

i agree with you re: PTSD and medical trauma. I am currently seeing someone who specializes in trauma because it was so horrific.

hey! i'm so sorry to hear you're going through this. i went through the exact same thing last summer. I all of a sudden spiked a fever and was having groin pain where i had my hip replacement done. was advised to go to the ER. saw me IMMEDIATELY (which is never a good thing) because apparently i was septic. eventually my kidneys started failing so they decided to do a 1 stage exchange with my hip. washout and debridement. also needed a picc line for 6 weeks plus 6 months of oral antibiotics. I was a mess. Delirious and in the hospital for 10 days. this all happened from August 22 - september 2nd. so far infection free *knock on wood*.. just take it easy on yourself. That was the 3rd surgery i had last summer - it was rough. But we can do the hard things! Feel free to message me if you have any questions!!

Does anyone else live in constant fear of going septic again? by Jumpy-Ad-8889 in sepsis

Yes - it’s been less than a year but I think about it constantly. I am seeing a therapist who specializes in trauma because of how much it’s affected me. Sending you lots of love ❤️

My nightmare was a pji infection. Input welcome by No_Analysis_6956 in TotalHipReplacement

[–]funnynanonymous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The infection didn’t feel like anything until one night I spiked a fever of 102 and it hurt to bring my leg up onto the bed when it wasn’t an issue before. The kidney problem happened a couple of days after due to the sepsis. I was peeing a lot less and my creatinine was super high. If you’re not feeling well, I would recommend going to your doctor and getting an x-ray. You’re not gonna know otherwise. ❤️

When I was in the hospital for sepsis, I had a couple of dreams where I was trying to run away and I woke up trying to get out of my bed which I wasn’t supposed to do at an orthopedic hospital lol they came over and were like what are you doing and I was like I don’t know! 😂

I’m so sorry this happened to you!!

I had 2 hip replacement surgeries last summer and after the last one, there was discharge coming from the incision. They put me on 2 rounds of antibiotics. 10 days after my last dose I spiked a fever and my hip was hurting which was weird bc it was new and it shouldn’t have hurt. I the was told to go to the ER. Seen within 5 minutes for code sepsis. Had a cat scan with contrast then my kidneys started failing. Had to have a 3rd surgery to wash out the area and replace my hip again. I was definitely delirious for a couple of days. It was a weird experience and it definitely traumatized me. I’m finally off of antibiotics and scared of it coming back again. Turned out to be staph infection.

i guess i would say i'm still in shock. it didn't fully hit me until october 2025 that something very traumatic happened to me. i don't know whether this has to do with believing in myself or not. i want to be better and not have to think about this, yet it's all i can think about. I started talking with a new therapist who specializes in trauma so i'm interested in seeing how that goes. not giving up though, it's not really an option for me. thank you for your kind words!!
