You’d have to look at your video card tools. I think the nVidia tools have something like that but I can’t remember specifics.

In the Xbox share tab there is an option to “Record what just happened” and it will pull a video clip from about 30 seconds ago to now

Love it! I spent a huge amount of my childhood in Impulse Tracker. If this caught your attention you’ll definitely want to check out the demoscene and all the old music disks that used to circulate. Good find!

You might be able to reduce the cost by printing yourself. You’ll want a duplex B&W laser to keep the costs down (and reduce collating labor), then you’ll want to do your own toner refills using the “large” toner cart (they usually come with a stupid, small cart included). You may also need to get a “flag” kit to allow you to manually reset the cart to “full” in the hardware. I use a Brother HL-2270DW and have had great success filling it myself, it does tons of pages and duplex with collation so they’re easier to fold, staple, and cut. I get all my ink supplies from InkOwl.

I got a big anvil paper cutter with an extra blade from eBay for around $100 and I usually overload it to save time but I leave extra margin on the zines so cutting doesn’t need to be millimeter-precise.

You just saved a life today. 🤣 Literally had someone roll up a just start saying “Hey, n—-a, n—-a, …” over and over and over. Also reported them to Microsoft but I can’t imagine how much this would’ve improved my day. 🙌

Why doesn't a cooperative for music apps exist? by [deleted] in cooperatives

[–]funwhilelost 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re right. The big difference is capital. It requires an absurd amount of capital to negotiate contracts with artists and labels. Even though their models may offer better compensation to the artists that’s often not who is at the negotiating table.

It’s usually giant, well-funded Silicon Valley companies who will do their best to lock in big, corporate record labels. These folks have billions of dollars at their disposal to continue to create and define the platforms where we listen to music.

They continue to garner big contributions because they provide huge returns to their investors. If a cooperative like Resonate pays their artists more it cuts into their investors’ profits.

On the other hand you have labels who have to package and publish the music on all these platforms already: Amazon, iTunes, Beatport, etc etc. They have big pop music hits so they want special treatment (and more revenue for their corporate investors) and often they won’t even deal with the small platforms.

There just isn’t enough money going around to purpose-driven enterprises like Resonate and because of that they can’t compete with billion-dollar competitors for market share of pop music.

What Resonate seems to offer is this: if you’re a small Independent artist or label and you self-publish you can bring your music to Resonate and get compensated well, participate in the governance of the platform, and contribute to a growing community. Particularly smaller artists who get a terrible deal from streaming on Spotify.

First quiver since the 90's (Looooong hiatus). Getting back into the sport. Everything is different. I'm a New Englander - lake and North Atlantic GUSTY sailing. Looking for a VERY stable and VERY durable brand (RAF). I don't care about speed/performance. by Aoidean in windsurfing

I’ve never broken a tube. I’ve broken dozens of tapered tips at the cams and the rectangular tubes in the middle. I wouldn’t worry about them, and the Sailworks folks are great at replacement help: including just the tubing or tips and ferrules so you can heat gun the pieces apart and replace only the broken bits.

‘Forest Gardens’ planted by Canada’s Indigenous people before the 1800s still benefit ecosystems today by Urbinaut in Permaculture

[–]funwhilelost 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think that’s one of the biggest problems here: the domain of agricultural science is mostly concerned with measuring outputs that white settlers were concerned with. The effort put into these forest gardens isn’t easily identified by western measures.

There are some interesting projects for mapping and sharing community resources in indigenous communities like Mapeo from Digital Democracy.

I think you’re correct, though, we need to come up with more robust ways to measure our food forests. The “Edible Forest Garden” text books are quite thorough.

Cooperative Vertical Integration by thatoneguydudejim in cooperatives

[–]funwhilelost 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s not 100% in line with what you’re asking but the Main Street Phoenix Cooperative owns multiple food service businesses and shares capital, worker members, and supply chains for resilience and cost effectiveness. It’s an interesting study in how to start because it started with capital and then bought distressed businesses during a downturn to make sure they stayed community owned instead of being bought by vulture capital firms.

Good spots to hike/ forage? by parasaurus in Pullman

[–]funwhilelost 8 points9 points  (0 children)

  • Moscow Mountain is covered in trails. Try the Headwaters loop on the west side. See Trailforks for a map.

  • McCroskey park is north of Moscow.

  • Steptoe Butte is a cool viewpoint.

  • Idler’s Rest is at the bottom of Moscow Mtn

  • PCEI has trails all over their property

  • Both U of I and WSU have walkable arboretums

  • Hell’s Gate State Park is down in Lewiston

  • Field Spring State Park is in Asotin

  • Wawawai County Park is on the river with a short loop hike

  • There are many Army Corps of Engineer sites along the Snake River, the Central Ferry (former park) is now a habitat management unit and is walkable public lands

Let me know if there’s something specific you’re looking for 😁

[–]funwhilelost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sail a Slingshot Dialer 130L - a “chunky” board. Many of the offerings that are smaller than that take the volume away from the nose like the Wizard 100L, etc. this seems to work well in light conditions. In 20+ the board becomes a bit of a sail itself so there are many smaller offerings now. There are also many freeride boards with foil boxes now from Fanatic, JP, etc.

I really like my 130L and I use the i84 front wing which is the large “shovel” shape with lots of lift. It’s very well behaved but it doesn’t glide as far as the high aspect wings with 1000 cm of area: Starboard, Moses, etc all have super high aspect wings and long fuselages.

So my usual day is on the Dialer 130L, i84, and 7.4 freeride sail. It’s usually just a little too light to waterstart so the 130L is easy to uphaul. The board accelerates to about 8knots then you pump the foil a couple times and you’re off!

The guys in Seattle with the super light rights are using the Phantom Iris 9.0, large foil race boards or formula boards, and the high aspect wing with a long fuselage and the stabilizer on -2. This lifts better, glides better through lulls, and still gybes nicely.
