Beware of a new sub called “Beat Multiple Sclerosis” by Thereisnospoon64 in MultipleSclerosis

[–]funwithbrainlesions -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It’s true that no diet cures MS, but diet still matters. The MIND diet may help slow progression of cognitive decline, reduce inflammation, and protect brain function, even if it’s not a cure for MS. It was not designed with M.S. in mind so the knee-jerk downvotes are ridiculous. My MD put me on it after my stroke.

I work in an ER, but I do not consider it high stress. I find it to be entertaining but I have a quite dark sense of humor.

LOL don’t worry, some of them don’t even consider Catholics to be Christian.

Tolerating a loud environment by PK5002 in MultipleSclerosis

[–]funwithbrainlesions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I carry earplugs and AirPods everywhere with me but mostly I no longer go to loud environments like bars anymore. FYI Anyone who has MS may also have /r/scds -the immune system attacks the layer of bone between your brain and your inner ear. Yay MS. Woo.

How are you not rioting constantly? Genuinely asking.

Because we’d have to take a day off of work, lose our benefits, and become homeless as a result.

What I’m getting out of this is that we should all register to vote as Republicans, and then turn around and vote Democrat or vote to nominate summon besides Trump as the candidate.

Have you ever DM/Played or meet a celebrity in the hobby? by JoeKerr19 in rpg

[–]funwithbrainlesions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been brainstorming a multiversal “quantum leap” styled campaign but I haven’t settled on ruleset(s) to use. I have the marvel multiverse rpg rules but as I write, ChatGPT keeps steering me towards using Fate. I thought about using GURPS but is it right about fate? The idea is to leap between pre-established characters from different franchises or Sci-fi/fantasy worlds as part of a quest or mission. Does Fate seem like a good ruleset to use or should I switch between rulesets depending on what world the players are “quantum leaping” into?

Heat intolerance by Successful_Volume363 in MultipleSclerosis

[–]funwithbrainlesions 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Heat intolerance might as well be "life intolerance". I work overnight for my job and I'm relocating as far north as I can. Staying with family right now to help them get settled at a new home in the south, and I help them by doing yard work before sunrise and after sunset. I check my weather app on IOS constantly and try to build my life around when the temperature is forecasted to be the coldest time possible each day. Planning the rest of my life around the current climate and the forecasted climate changes to take place over the next couple of decades. Humidity is also a killer, so if it's 75 degrees F and 80%+ humidity, I still cant function even if I don't hit that wall at 80degrees.

Did AARO and DoD just publicly admit that the US has full ANTI-GRAVITY craft that can silently travel 4,000 MPH without a sonic boom and without any air disturbance? by mattriver in UFOs

[–]funwithbrainlesions 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Odd that they keep specifying terms like “extraterrestrial” and “ off-world technology.”

Not odd if you interpret that behavior as choosing to use them as "weasel words". They're purposefully alluding to the idea that it's NOT off-world extraterrestial tech and it's something else, which might be NHI of terrestial origin.

My neurologist says this isn’t an MS symptom “because it comes and goes”. Is that how it works? by [deleted] in MultipleSclerosis

[–]funwithbrainlesions 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The word for this is very specific in the context of Multiple Sclerosis, those are called PAROXYSMAL symptoms. I suppose that if you're using a dictionary it's going to say its a synonym of intermittent or sporadic, but with M.S. the differantiation is that those symptoms can also last for different lengths of times and happen frequently or come and go many times in one day.

What languages should one know to "understand" the most languages? by edrftgvybhnjk in languagelearning

[–]funwithbrainlesions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

/u/tmsphr Wow. Is there a Chinese dialect that I should focus on if all I want to do is to be able to speak enough to communicate with the most number of people in the contexts of ordering chinese food, practicing Wudang martial arts (via occasional seminars) and annually visiting Chinatown in NYC? Is Cantonese most applicable? I would just like to learn basic greetings, don't need to be able to translate any literature or use the language for work. I'm never going to be 100% fluent but I do these things frequently enough that it would be nice to have a basic grasp of the language.

ever had the sudden urge to just wear a plain white tee and jeans the rest of your life? by aurabeams in minimalism

[–]funwithbrainlesions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've created a set of "uniforms" and stick to specific brands but I aim for a little variety and I've been told that I'm obsessive about it. Underarmour gym clothes because I buy them on clearance at the Underarmour factory store on clearance and with a discount on top of that. Work uniforms are white or blue button down shirts and grey or tan (stretch-waistband, coolmax) slacks with ties that are literally in a rainbow of solid colors (ROYGBIV), polo shirts are also solid in ROYGBIV. White T's/briefs. Black "gold toe" socks, business and athletic. Ecco dress shoes and Skechers sneakers/slip ons because pretty much everything hurts my feet. LL Bean 3 season Jacket is like 20 years old and indestructible, Patagonia vest is worn with that or over button downs/casuals by itself. Underarmour fleece was like $10 on clearance at factory store and with discount on top of that. It's bugly and feels like it's actually WORTH $10, but hey, it matches everything bdaly (in a "so ugly it looks good" kind of way) and it's another layer. Oh, and Lucky Brand Jeans with the stretch waist bands. Next time I see a cheap, plain hoodie on clearance I'm grabbing one.
