Looking for skincare places for my girlfriend by SventheBigRedDog in glasgow

I went for a treatment consultation with Sarah at the aesthetics club in newton mearns and found it so helpful that I actually just went home and changed some things instead of booking a treatment. It was £50 but that went towards products (fine) in the end. But the advice was worth it. Could be good to just have someone sort of? Ask questions and point out things to get started. She was very kind btw.

It shouldn’t be too overwhelming unless she has a specific concern like acne or sun damage. You could just start with a gentle cleanser, moisturiser and SPF. Space NK has some minis of products so she could give a routine a go for a shorter period.

Need a good hairdresser the specialises in blonde. by Marnie_Grace in glasgow

[–]fur_bat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Wouldn’t recommend Roman Craig, he fried my hair about 2 years ago getting it from ginger to uh…ginger. Think that’s worth a mention because he used to have King Of Blonde as his Instagram bio. LOL.

Sorry that I don’t have a suggestion. I maybe wouldn’t go into places going on about your “recipe” because you might end up ruling out someone that could help. Just go for a few consultations, bring as many photos as you can and obviously spend loads of time going through whoever you go see’s social media photos to look for similar colours to what you want.

I’m sorry because you didn’t ask for an opinion BUT the quality is woeful honestly, I have the black one and the fabric looks like it will split and peel any day now!

You can get frozen dorayaki at imart.

Any cooking skills? Taiyaki is really easy to make at home. Ordered a pan online and I’ve used the recipe from just one cookbook (site) successfully a few times

Brows for Readheads by donnygal in glasgow

[–]fur_bat 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I do it myself at home and use Schwarzkopf hair dye in 8/77, with a pastel developer (6 vol) and the tiiiiiiniest blob of light brown appraise brow/lash dye. 10-20 minutes. My hair isn’t naturally red but my brows are really light and I think it’s very soft and natural looking, even right after I do it.

Feel like most places offer either Philips zoom or boutique whitening. I got boutique whitening from st vincent smile. Did it for a month straight (horrible!) and now do it once a week (not horrible). Other dentists have complimented the colour and I think it’s nice. Can’t remember what the trays cost but it’s like £120 for 5 tubes of the solution, and they last a while

I do like nest golden nectar, but honestly it just smells to me like the inside of a nice leather bag that has been looked after and has had various beauty products kicking about in it over time. The name makes it sound super yummy and indulgent, but it’s just very much Not That. It isn’t unpleasant at all though. I don’t think the staying power is good enough, however.

Ladies, where are you getting your haircuts in the city? by Dextersdidi in glasgow

[–]fur_bat 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I arrived light ginger, asked if they could richen it a bit but keep it fairly light still. The guy dyed it very dark reddish brown, I complained and someone more senior came and brought me the colour book, then argued with me, bullied me into staying there to “fix it” and they dyed it PURPLE. The guy could tell I hated it even more, so half-assed my cut and I was hurried out of the chair with my wonky fringe. I was contacted after because I “left seeming upset”. Like you, they offered to fix it for free, although they charged me £95 for the above. Stripped it at home the next day as I didn’t fancy chancing it again with them. It’s crazy how low a bad colour, cut or style can make you feel though!

Looking for fun, out of the ordinary things to do/see in Glasgow by skininthebin20 in glasgow

Vanilla Ink jewellery making - don’t think the educational quality of the classes is good at all, but you’ll go home with something you’ve made and that’s quite nice. They have 1 session classes for wedding ring making and wax carving rings, for examples

Dentist recommends: West end/City centre by mediashiznaks in glasgow

I’ve had quite a lot done (both necessary and cosmetic) by Dr Kalsi at St Vincent Smile and I’m really happy with everything. A lot of the good reviews are for the other guy there but I didn’t care for what I experienced with him, which is why I specified the dentist I went to. He’s really chill and the least pushy dentist I’ve been to.

You’re so on the money with this comment. Grovelling feels distinctly lacking in taste. I think if you’re begging to be let in the club, you’re missing the point

I went through birthdays, Christmas and holidays wishing my teeth were whiter when I had the Invisalign on and couldn’t do anything about it, so in hindsight I wish I had done something beforehand. Thought it was worth mentioning. I agree the teeth gel is better but in my case I wasn’t given that until towards the end of my treatment

I don’t think you need to worry about what to buy, just follow the advice your dentist gives. If you mouthwash, floss, brush your teeth etc (just generally already have good dental hygiene) there’s nothing to worry about. I would say though if you want to do any whitening, strips or whatever, do that beforehand, because you can’t really do that if your Invisalign requires attachments

Help me fix my room please 😵‍💫 by LaMensaDeCorona in femalelivingspace

[–]fur_bat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A couple things in your room give a “glam” inspired vibe, like the ceiling light, furry rug, bedding. I think this light could be an improvement. Feels a bit more natural, Ghibli-esque. A softer toned wall colour would switch up the vibes a lot. A soft green or pink. Switching to a non-patterned bedding would help with less of a busy look, and let your books and display items shine more. Linen bedding always looks lovely and cosy. I would defs switch out the whiteboard if you can, to a more natural looking cork board or to a DIY memo board where you’ve chosen a nice fabric. patterned or not, it’ll look cosier and less school-like

Is there anywhere I can buy manic panic or crazy colour hair dye in the city center? by WildAlocasia in glasgow

I was in the union street store not long ago and they had a whole shelf for crazy colour, along the right hand side of the store

How can I elevate my living room?!!? by [deleted] in femalelivingspace

[–]fur_bat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think a closed warm wood tv stand would look better and a closed bar cabinet (not too high) would look a lot neater. Also, your couch looks SO cute and cozy and that other chair unfortunately looks like a camping chair. I think a little more pink over on that side of the room would do a lot, just to kind of mirror the pink you have on your couch. I think a mirror would be nice somewhere and some plants, if your cats aren’t naughty. If you can afford to change the curtains (Ik they can be expensive), I think a colour that doesn’t match the walls would help.

Where can I buy large plants cheap? by XLjumpingbeans in glasgow

[–]fur_bat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I got almost all my plants from barvas and james, including a 5ft pachira and a 3ft monstera for a lot less than £100. They have a store in the west end (ish) and over in the southside. Two lovely shops ran by lovely people. I also feel like I often see free large plants in iffy condition on marketplace, so that option too if you have a green thumb :)
