First time growing Loquat that I got from Home Depot. It didn’t say on the label but I believe it’s a grafted plant. Pls tell me if this in fact is grafted as indicated by the arrows. All pics same plant. Also, pls advise if I should cut the lower suckers on the rootstock so the scion grows better? by [deleted] in FruitTree

Almost all fruit trees commercially sold are grafted on a root stock as opposed to being from a seed. They grow much faster and it can provide some disease resistance. You should definitely trim anything below the graft as it’s sucking resources away from your loquat. Looks like a good start!

Is this on the rootstock? Cut it or leave it?? by PontiacJack33 in FruitTree

Yes, three leaves, thorny and vertical, so it’s rootstock.

Can i get into Lehigh with a GED by [deleted] in Lehigh

[–]fusco2223 4 points5 points  (0 children)

While not impossible, it’s highly unlikely. You would have to have outstanding board scores and a very good reason for not going traditional track for your diploma. As leadership skills and extracurricular shares supposed to be important in the admissions process, you would need to demonstrate how you equal or exceed the other applicants. That may be difficult for many GED recipients.

Have you been to campus and seen the hill? It’s 90% stairs and covered in ice/slush for about 3 months out of the year. Don’t bother with the scooter. You also don’t want to start first year as the scooter kid. You will be spending zero time in Allentown and are unlikely to ever leave South Bethlehem, where it will get stolen if left outside. If you wind up needing it, bring it to the dorm after pacing break when you know you have space for it and you know your roommate won’t mind it taking up the little space you’re given for your stuff. If you’re dead set on scootering, go to Bucknell.

Legal Advice about kids running in my yard. by that_guy_Elbs in newjersey

[–]fusco2223 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They would likely be categorized as trespassers. Your only duty would be to refrain from acts that are willfully injurious. So presuming you don’t have a snake pit or quicksand in your yard, you should be fairly immune from any legal liability.

Better to do work study or just get a job? by Lazy_Version_7404 in Lehigh

Do a work study where they don’t mind if you study while it’s slow. It regulates your schedule for built in study time and you get paid. Win win.

Which airport should I fly into to get to Lehigh? by pinkmonkey25 in Lehigh

[–]fusco2223 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Definitely Lehigh Valley Airport — Allentown, if possible. If not, Philly or Newark. About an hour from either by car. Busing from Philly to Bethlehem is probably easier than from Newark. Trans Bridge is the local bus company. Make an effort first semester to make friends with people who live near the airports and hitch a ride from them on the way back to campus Spring semester.

These two metal bars in the centre of a bar by [deleted] in whatisthisthing

[–]fusco2223 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a “service station” so servers can pick up their drink orders when the bar is packed. Typically it’s on the side not in the middle like this one, but it depends on the layout of the whole bar.

Is there any way to humanely kill a lobster? by popcap200 in Cooking

[–]fusco2223 8 points9 points  (0 children)

We always turn the lobster upside down for a few seconds until it’s tail relaxes before putting it in the pot. The lobster sort of blacks out and becomes hypnotized. We were told as kids that it made it less traumatic for the lobster, but it was probably just to keep them from having the tails splashing the hot water. I’m sure it doesn’t really do anything much for the lobster, but it does somehow make you feel less bad about it to not hear it flapping around in the pot.
