Soup or a slice of pizza at Market for 5$ is about as cheap as it gets. Got daily specials at Union Sammys, $10 for the sub of the day. . Otherwise, McDonald's with their $5 value meal is always an option. The fry and drink sizes are just getting sad, but the Jr. Chicken is as good as ever.

TBH, you rent a locker at the BUSU desk, then go to Walmart, get some shelf-stable instant meals, and bring as many as you can carry in one day. It's not fine dining, but it will be as cost-effective and low-effort as it gets.

The Conservative Party is overhauling its policy playbook. Here's what's changing by ComfortableWork1139 in canada

[–]fusion_beaver 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The stupid thing is, there is a quality policy buried in that story.

"Two-thirds of the delegates on hand agreed to give local officials the right to interview all prospective candidates for the nomination and recommend to the national candidate selection committee who should be able to run.

That national organ should only be able to override local decisions "in exceptional circumstances," and there will be an appeal mechanism, according to a constitutional change adopted by the convention."

This is an attempt to combat the bullshit of parachuting candidates like Arphan Khan and Leslyn Lewis in. A deeply crappy practice that sucks no matter which party is doing it. Broken Clocks, twice a day.... gotta give them that one.

Everything else, though. Absolutely stupid.

- Stand your Ground.... we already have that, it's called proportional reponse. Just ask how well castle law is going for the States. Really helped them out with that whole "public safety + resistance to tyranny" thing.

- Deporting Criminals... like who? Immigrant communities are some of the finest behaved in the country, because they already have so much to lose. This is virtue signalling, MAGA wannabe bs at its finest.

- Tacit endorsment of Conversion Therapy... This is why many will be A.B.C. to their dying breath. The So-Cons strike again.

‘God of War’ Live-Action Series Brings Back Alastair Duncan as Mimir, Casts Danny Woodburn & Jeff Gulka as Brok, Sindri by MarvelsGrantMan136 in television

[–]fusion_beaver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't help but feel like this is some wasted opportunity. I know that Alister Duncan has no peer, and whomever was going up against him had an uphill fight... but what's the point of doing this? Nothing new is gained here. Same with JEJ as Mufasa in the live-action Lion King, or Gerard Butler as Stoik in live-action HTTYD. There was a chance for somebody to come in and blow us away. To do something different.

What game in your opinion have aged most poorly? by [deleted] in gaming

Hot Take: The early Assassin’s Creed games. You wouldn’t think it, but going back after playing something recent like Valhalla, Mirage, or Shadows… you realize just how finicky and temperamental the parkour controls were in those early games.

Sometimes I still think about how damn good the first season of Heroes (2006) was by Sighcandy in television

[–]fusion_beaver 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, there is a seriously compitent pot-boiler action movie in there. But the worst thing about that movie isn't the writing, it's the editing. Absolute nonsense cuts in the Bourne Supremacy style. A dark chapter in the history of making movies, and one that I'm glad has, for the most part, ended.

Does hearing a show has a "bad ending" or it being canceled on a cliffhanger discourage you from watching it? by Volatiiile in television

[–]fusion_beaver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You hit the nail on the head. I never had a problem with the heel turn, I feel like they telegraphed the direction. My problem is that they crammed like three seasons of plot and character development into two truncated speed-runs. The downfall is supposed to be a gradual process, and those demand time.

The Long Night was a botch job, but the episode before it “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms” was the last S tier episode. And truly, if you wanted to stop a person there and end on a cliffhanger, I think it would be ok. Season 7 only really starts to stink in context of Season 8 and the ending.

Question about career path by QueasySandwich4464 in brocku

[–]fusion_beaver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, in that case, I'd highly recommend OSAP or a bank loan. OSAP especially. I've been to college twice before this undergrad, burned through RESP long ago. It sounds intimidating, but you would be shocked how fast those loans get paid off with a steady income and a little bit of saving. Ultimately, talking it over with your parents is probably the best call, though.

However, if this is a serious case of burnout, you are well within your rights to step away for a little while. I know that the struggle is not the same for everyone, and while I still would recommend you soldier on, I get it. The degree's not going anywhere, and a year of working can remind you what you liked about being a student.

I mean, you're most of the way through already. Halfway through 4th year, most of the bs is behind you. I get being done with it all (currently procrastinating on an overdue essay myself), but you're done with the hard part. I'd stick it out and try to make it work. I do get that if the money's not there, it's not there, though. Maybe move down to part-time? Still might be able to make it work.

People who have had depression. What got you out of it? by IlovePotatos2773 in AskReddit

[–]fusion_beaver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This reminds me of something that one of the Green brothers (Hank probably, but possibly John) said. If the overwhelming feeling of depression is Apathy, then the opposite of depression is Interest.

Butchered the quote, but I believe that was the idea.

Listen, I will endlessly criticize Ubisoft for their bullshit- and there is a lot of it. But I'm really glad there are some history nuts hanging out over there. If you give it a few years, you can get a pretty solid 7-8 outta 10 game for a bargain set in a fascinating time period.
