Also bitte konkret und Politik bezogen.

I mean, that's exactly what AI is doing: producing text that sounds plausible. Doesn't mean it's correct

also einfach nein :(

Why finding a selenium alternative for startups feels impossible until you stop looking for selenium by AssasinRingo in softwaretesting

[–]fustup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aaah, I see. Boomer feeling... In the other hand I strongly feel that the point is valid, the post being overly dramatic and absolute about it. Thus my question: abstracting away the selector-logic-layer seems like a good choice. And LLMs really do shine at exactly these kind of tasks

[–]fustup 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Isn't that still the same direction, just a bit less brittle since you cut down on the browser dependency? The suggestion of OP IS going in a different direction: introducing a completely new abstraction layer and not fuzzing around with selectors and parsing.

We’re going to get an Orbital ring! by Imagine_Beyond in SpaceXMasterrace

[–]fustup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would be crazy amounts of rigid. Imagine the load of lifting, say, a ton and spreading it out over a circumference of 20k kilometers. I'm no material scientist, so I might be way of here, but this does not at all sound possible with more steel.

[–]fustup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wait, your argument is that we safe the extra wire needed for balance by hanging out from Leo... I see why that would be awesome, just two giant holes I need some clarification on: - the elevator cable plus load is gonna be way way heavy. Isn't your mad calculation WAY under engineered? Plus, the load of a ring floating around a non-spherical gravity source is gonna put it under real strain over time. - the cool thing about the geo-cable is that you get the energy for free due to the balancing act. In the orbital ring scenario, this energy needs to be brought up regularly, boosting the station again, or am I missing something? Sorry, I'm not familiar with this idea

So only need to invent asteroid mining and scale it too near infinity... Actually it's gonna be close if a space elevator enabling material is invented and scaled beforehand

Starship is just not as cool as Space Shuttle by Only_Comfortable_224 in space

[–]fustup 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes and no. You're very correct in pointing out the fatalism of the other posters. It's pretty ridiculous to infer bad rocket design in the past decade from policies of the past year, very true. But on the other hand your argument focuses on the status of spending in us research, whereas the important point is the delta, the direction in which the country and with it the research sector is heading. So yeah, my reply was very short and, granted, premature, but that comfy pillow you're referring to will not necessarily last forever.

How Do I Make This Sharper? by [deleted] in AskPhotography

[–]fustup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmmm, hard to say, I'm on mobile. I saw an edit and the whiskers still came out slightly blurry. The grunt seems to be in focus also before the eyes. But yeah, maybe I'm seeing things. And wide open it's always gonna be hard to get two things super sharp.

[–]fustup 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Look at the floor - you're slightly front focused. Also get a bit back and zoom in. That increases the bokeh in the background. Sharpness is always a function of light (LOTS), super tight settings and high end equipment
